Sun coral polyps don't seem to come out...

I have yellow sun and dendros. I feed dendros in day and sun at night (usually) but recently my sun have started opening when they notice the food in the water for the dendro so I feed them a bit at that time also. I do remember reading somewhere that if they aren't fed regularly they will simply quit opening and die. I put a bit of cyclopeze in the tank first. Then I begin thawing some pemysis. After rinsing the pemysis thoroughly (will help keep your water parameters in tact) I use a turkey baster to feed each polyp individually. Mine do great, but I did notice a polyp on my dendro that wasn't opening... It was hidden by a couple other polyps and I probably missed feeding it for a few days, but once I started feeding it again it opened up fully again after about a week. Good luck to you. :-)

You water paramaters are out of line for long term care imho. Get your phophates and nitrates to zero and then you will see them out all the time. Once they are out regularly try feeding them some california blackworms...you will see a big difference in activity and growth then :)

I agree. I find that I really have to be on top of my maintenance. The tank needs to be spotless.

Haha, super clean, yet full of food. Quite the challenge!

My black sun is out all the time now and has quite a few new polyps, so must be doing something right. :) The orange sun is doing better
