Sunburnt Corals...

My center MH lights envelope broke and most of my corals got exposed to unfiltered UV. My pink, fire, and cinnamon zoos are all closed, my open brain is deflated, frogspawn is retracted, leather is retracted and wilting, and my maxima clam's mantle is shriveled. I got temp replacement bulbs - greenhouse bulbs in the 4500k coloration, very yellow but high par, but everything is still closed up today. All my tangs are cool, they hid in their caves... Should i shut off the lights for a few days to allow healing? Ive never dealt with an issue like this.

I dunno about off-but certainly I would reduce cut in half your usual exposure.
Never seen that happen but sounds like common sense to me.

i would def reduce photoperiod as well as screen the tank. thats a huge jump in par for all your corals. has any of them shown any signs of bleaching?

ive heard of that as well, i agree with gasman, at the very least reduce photoperiod by half, and if specific corals are looking fadded, bleached or just plain unhappy possibly move them lower.

hope they bounce back well

B esides rearranging the light photoperiod try increasing the flow around the corals, that will help them heal faster.

I think i have a slight bleaching event, there is an ashen look to everything in the tank.. ok, raised my light array by 10 inches and reduced to 3 hours for the next few days.. now its wait and see what happens..
