Sundail??? Or colonista??? Possible other???

SIR PATRICK

I am afraid this is a sundail snail....having a hard time telling for absolute certain. This snail came from a tank with lotts of polyps, and no sighn of polyp loss, and all are growing very well. This tank also has a very long term established colonista population over 3 years old.

The more I look at this snail, the more sirens go off- and say sundail though!!!

Help?

Have you looked at pictures of sundials at all? Very distinctly different than collonistas. Pull it out & take a look at its operculum (the opening). If it has a pointy "door" it shuts, it's a sundial.

I don't see a pic, did you post one?

Thx Mucho.....I was really hoping it wasnt, but deep down knew it was.

I didnt dip this rock.....was just a rock full of cool macros to me. I put it in my sump, and a snail dropped on the floor on the way in. After adding the rock, I picked up the snail to toss back in- but checked it first.

I imediately pulled the rock out, after I took the pics. Hope I avoided a close call.......

^^^ LOL!!! ^^^^

I never really thought to dip my liverock.....but i will now!!!

I got all the tiny colonistas that I could find off the rock. I was trying to repopulate my tank. Got the rock on an extended dip. Gonna let it marinate for a while.

Hope there werent any others! Knock on wood.....
