Super bummed found out I had aefw now tonight red bugs.need advice

Thanks guys I found some interceptor! Going to do the treatment this weekend I'm kinda excited I know my corals will be a little happier better pe ,color, ect.....

I feel your pain, a few months ago my heart stopped, AEFW again!.. despite dipping and QT they still managed to get back into the system. Picked up 25+ frags for a steal, they appeared clean so cut QT time short. Now I pay lol,

Cut all the colonies off the rock, removed two thirds rock from tank and put in eggcrate racks. Been dipping now for about two months. Not a good time, takes hours and dips are not as thorough as I would like,
Using Revive or Coral RX I lost one Loripes colony.

Ran some tests with Bayer and found that after a dip and AEFW was placed back in tank water they uncurl and cruise around. So Bayer does same thing as Revive, Coral RX, and Prazi Pro but using Bayer has potential to wipe out the tank inhabitants.

In hindsight trying Flat Worm Stop may have not been a bad idea. Although the jury is still out. A fellow reefer says TLF Acropower is amazing, maybe the two together could help strengthen coral? or maybe they are the same ingredients. hmmm!!

hang in there and good luck

I read somewhere and I don't know if this is true or not so please dont shoot the messenger here LoL!!! Rasing your DKH to 12 will kill AEFW I have no idea why but sounds like it may work.

Thanks for the replys the corals seem bothered but still have color and growing .... I've seen lots of tanks with aefw that are amazing !!! One thing is I can't find red bugs on anymore pieces is t that there so small and hard to see??? They have to be more ??

Interesting on 12dkh that would wipe our everything including acro I would have to raise slowly over a month or 2 that's interesting I know eventually we will have a cure but in mean time damn

see if u can find link please :).
It sure would be interesting if true ! I can raise my KH to 12 and increase AAs and keep corals thriving.

What do u mean by Bater having potential to wipe out tank inhabitants? And I didn't know they spring back to life after dip

I don't know what kind of fish you have in your tank but since you are in a tough spot I would try different kinds of wrasses. I had AEFW and red bugs in my tank, and defeated them by just buying fish. Here is some that worked well. Yellow candy hogfish, sixline wrasse and yellow wrasse. Some that didn't worked were a green wrasse and dragon wrasse. Don't put them all at the same time.
start with the yellow canfy hogfish. It will devour AEFW with gusto. Its been 3 years since I have had AEFW and almost 2 years since red bugs. Current wrasse in my tank is a six line.

As you know I also have aefw, when I dipped half the rocks and coral, then rinsed in tank water, repaced them. I only lost one out of 3 cleaner shrimp, no anthias or fish in general. Probably still have aefw thought.

Ya I'm going to go wrasse route ... I did interceptor treatment last night!!! And it worked great i lost my acro crabs and peppermint shrimp though..

This is anectotal so take it with a grain of salt, but I had a AEFW problem in my old 120. I started using Flatworm Stop and within 4-5 months I could not longer find any flatworms. Before that I tried blasting the adults off for my fish to eat, but that only helped keep the populations in check. The only downside to trying Flatworm Stop is the cost -- its not cheap.

I know how you feel. Lived through both. The thing to focus on now is how great your corals will look after you get rid of them.

Bayer works great against both but you have to remove the colony. I would treat with spectrum the remove and dip the colonies. That will finish off any remaining RBs and rid you of the AEFW. It seems like a lot of work but the end result will make you happy. Lastly dip everything that goes into your tank in Bayer.
