super glue gel

Is super glue gel ok to use and set under water in your marine aquarium? I'm worried about other toxins from the gel getting into the water before curing.

Just make sure the only ingredient is cyanoacrylate and your good to go. I use Loctite brand. Works well for me.

Try the dollar store. I get 2 tubes of original 'Super Glue' gel for ....... $1!!!!!

So what i do now is.
I glue what needs to be glued, frag to rock or rock to rock etc etc. Then if its coral and needs light after being aired for gluing i either place it in a container in the tank hanging off the edge protecting the gel cure and the fish from the glue


If it doesnt need light i place it in the sump for half hour then in the DT

What I do recommend doing first is dip the coral, frag or rock into the water with the glue.
This creates a barrier for you to apply to any other object when submerged.

Yes i dip also, start with wet rock or frag plug, apply glue, attach coral and then dip the entire assembly. The water makes the glue cure faster and will generate a skin that is much easier to handle so you can set the coral the way you want it on the rock.

Just a side question regarding Super Glue: Does the Super Glue affect your Silica concentration in the tank? I just Super glued a few frags to some rocks the other day, and the next day I had a Diatom bloom. I wonder if that's related. The suspect water params read: Nitrate-10 ppm, Phospates-0.03

So, The below picture Loctite gel glue should be OK for coral and tank?
Its all I could find at the store when looking for Super Glue brand.
