this is my third post on the subject. my superman montipora is still brown in the center and the polyps arnt extending all the way. I've had it towards the top of the tank and just below the middle. im at my wits end. it was rite next to my sunset that looks amazing and it didn't color up. its still groowing just not as fast as the sunset. all water peramitors r good. temp 79 alk 8 to 9 dkh cal 440 to 460. any advice???

I have mine low in the tank and it does really well. You might be giving it too much light.

Also, what do your phosphates and nitrates look like?

nitrates undetectable. haven't checked phosphates, but don't have any algea issues. and all other montis are doing very well. how low is low in your tank? for placement.

My colony in my 90 is just about 3" from the surface but it's under a 96w pc and 150w halide so it might be too high under your lights.

FWIW mine turned white and neon orange when my nitrates were sky high under 10ks. Chemistry is in line and under phoenix 14ks for about 5 mos and he receeded part is being re encrusted. The colony now has a deep blue base and red polyps, but it's been a long time coming.

Mine was a maricultured piece and I paid alot for it $189 but the thing was 5"x 6".
