Probably because FedEx hates your guts for making them lug around all that weight 
Last time I did 4 buckets of salt I saw the FedEx guy and met him at his truck with a dolly to help get everything to my door.
That said, my salt comes from a local supplier, Aquavitro Salinity $55 a bucket I think (or maybe it's $65), I might change though because I've been reading rather low numbers with it and the whole point of me using that salt was that it was high in calcium and alkalinity, Kalk I've gotten from Dr Foster/Smith when it's been on sale, at the time it was cheaper than BRS per pound, Leslie's Pool for Hardness Plus (Randy 2part), Arm & Hammer from Costco for Alkalinity, could buy soda ash but I just use it without baking off the CO2 and it seems to work fine.

I use Instant Ocean sea salt... I normally get my buckets from petsmart... a little over $50 makes 160 gallon mixes.... but if you dont mind bulk boxes... glasscages.com sells IO sea salt 200 gallon boxes for $50.. not sure how much shipping would be but you get more salt for less money.. just boxes dont work well for me... so I get the buckets

I was going to order 10 boxes but when I put code in for free shipping it only gave me a 13.00 discount on the shipping rate because of the weight of the product :-(

I've found good deals on Amazon for unions and valves. Drs Foster's have a deal on 2" unions right now for ~$4.40
