Sure Grip 50 Magnetic Powerhead Holder

Jeni,

I have been using 2 of them on MJ1200s since they came out (about 3 months for me) and haven't seen any negative effects on the pumps (time may tell). The MJs are mounted even closer to the magnets as I am using the side mounts on the powerhead.

I cannot speak for the SEIOs as I no longer own any.

Jeni - I run my Tunze's with the magnets (the tunze magnets seem much more powerful than these new ones) without a problem. While it seems feesable that the magnets could cause interference with the powerhead, I have not personally seen it and I know Tunze has been making theirs for quite some time now.

I realize these are not the same magnets, but I think you would be fine with them.

double down.. do you think the one made by tunze will work on one inch glass.. and are they coated... need to put outside piece in the overflow

The Tunze magnets are coated on both sides, basically they are a plastic frame with the magnets placed in the "arms" and then the magnets are sealed with an epoxy and covered with a plastic snap-in-place plate. I believe they are made in 2 sizes, one for the 6000/6100 stream and one for the 6200. The 6200 is a bigger pump so I would think a bigger magnet. I have them holding 6100s through 1/2 inch acrylic and they are fine.

Check with Roger in the Tunze forum. He will get you an answer in a matter of minutes if he's online or you may have to wait an hour or two. Very fast on the return time.

I just mentioned this thread to Mark, owner of Algae Free. He says he is not aware of any problems of any kind. If there are questions he can be contacted at Markh@tds.net. See you saturday, I'm hungry....
