Sushi Roe?

Hey folks this is my first time using reef central so forgive me if this should be posted elsewhere. I have a pretty established 29gal nano tank with 2 extreme misbar perculas and a target mandarin. I met a guy at that pet place in Lancaster today who said he feeds his mandarin sushi roe (flying fish eggs). Now, my mandarin has plenty of live pods to eat and she also loves frozen cyclops. And I've recently been able to trick her into eating frozen mysis. Being that she's my favorite fish, I wanna do everything I can to keep her fat. Anybody try feeding dragonettes sushi roe?

I feed Sushi roe to my tank on occasion. Just one or two eggs at a time using a turkey baster to make sure they are eaten. Sometimes they send my skimmer crazy so I turn it off now when I feed them. Just make sure they are washed in some tank water. My flame angel especially loves them.

When I find roe inside a fish that I'm gutting I feed it to the tank, I think eggs have a lot of nutrition for the baby inside to use and my fish love it!
But I don't use the cheap sushi kind cause it always seems to have a lot of chemicals in it

Sushi roe is a staple food for me, principally for my anthias. I used to take the time to rinse it (to get rid of the orange food coloring and other additives), but don't bother anymore and has had no impact.

I just went to my local grocery store, wegmans. They have a pretty nice sushi counter there and they were willing to sell me around 4oz in a little soufflé cup for $2. I guess I didn't realize how big the eggs actually are... They are plenty small enough for my clowns to eat, but it seemed like my mandarin wasn't able to either crunch the egg or swallow a whole one. She seemed to suck up the few really small ones, and a couple of the broken ones. Idk I guess I'm gonna put them in the freezer for future use. And maybe just feed cyclops every day instead of every other day.

I buy frozen flats of masago roe from a local Asian market; along with 100 sheet nori packs.

Capelin roe is smaller in size, maybe you should give that a try.

I would not use that personally:

ingredients: Flying Fish Roes (Wild caught), mirin, Bonito extract (Dried Bonito powder, glucose, Lactose, Disodium Succinate, Disodium Inosinate, Dried kelp powder), Soy sause (water, soybeans, wheat, salt) sugar, salt, Japanece rice vinegar, sodium sorbat, FD & C Yellow #6, Blue #1, Red #40

Yea.. I seen the ingredients after i posted. I would look for a more natural source.

Idk how To upload a picture of her to this thread. I post on this site via my iPhone 4... So everything is kinda weird. But I'll upload a pic of her to my album now. I the pic she's eating frozen cyclops with the pumps turned off (if they are on, she can't get them quick enough before the filter gets them.). I am more than willing to go out of my way to find food that she will like. I just feel like the frozen cyclops and the few mysis she may eat may not be enough. Any realistic ideas. I really don't like to buy stuff online

If the regular sushi eggs are too large you can feed shrimp eggs. I love them too

Just an update. The mandarin is now eating the sushi roe like candy, along with cyclops, frozen mysis and frozen brine. I realize now the she is actually a he, and was doing so well that he recently was moved to my 75 gal reef with the other fish. Now the 29 gal nano is home to a particularly beautiful peacock mantis. He's eating frozen mussels like a champ
