I'm headed to the Ithaca area and was wondering if there are any reef shops in the aea. Won't have much ime to check out the waterfalls, but my son and I are always up to see a new place, come home wit some new ideas, and usually way more livestock than I expected. We're coming from Canandaigua, so Seneca Falls area would work too. We're headed back to Bath afterward, so maybe even something in the Elmira/ Corning area.
That being said, what would be the best wat to transport livestock on a 2-3 hour drive in 80 degree weather?

There's nothing in Ithaca but the mall pet store. 4 tanks, maybe 8 fish, and some mushrooms that alternate between "not for sale" and "wow that's expensive".

I don't know of anything near Watkins Glen, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

In Auburn, there's Tropical Fish Emporium. Lots of fish and aquariums, some macro algae, but not much coral. It isn't much to look at, but the owner is a hoot.

I just put my treasures in a cooler while I drive. You could add an ice pack in a towel if you think it's necessary.

Didnt relize the mall one was still open! if your down into elmira you can check out Tropical Fish Outlet. Dave has freshwater and saltwater. If you have a GPS or you can mapquest the adress is

2065 Lake Road Elmira Heights 14903

oh ya and +1 for reddy a cooler or styrophome box if you have one sittin around would be fine just add some wet towels if you are conserned about temp. If you need to wet some down im sure dave would be more than happy to help you out.

Most of the good LFS I've been to offered styrofoam boxes and heat/cold packs, but I usually bring my own.

Finnyas. It's about 5-10 minutes outside of alpine junction in VanEtten. St. James of Reefdom, or Blugobi on RC are the owners. Excellent guys that are always willing to help out. I'm not sure what they're selection is like right now, as they have been working on getting their shop moved into their garage, but anytime I've been there they have excellent corals and fish for a great price
