SWSW sales?

It would be nice to have a dozen successful great SW stores here, but as my wife says, "This is Tucson." Having one great ANYTHING seems to be a bonus here!

Ain't that the truth!

Wow we hit 5 pages, I think this is the longest thread Tucson Reef Keepers has ever had

Supporting Tucson aquaculture is a hard thing. so many pests. zoa nudi's, AEFW, monti nudi's. mojano's. the works

I've only heard of those originating from certain lfs. What's so hard about dipping and quarantine?

A certain lfs owner took some of my aquacultured frags once, picked one up and proceeded to flick something off of it. He says, "zoa spider". I was about to clock the guy. I had just spent the afternoon inspecting the frags to be sure that they were pest free. Why wouldn't he just show me the spider? Because there was never one to begin with.

The problem has been in the past people knowing they have pest and still proceeding to sell without full disclosure. At frag swaps it is ok to sell if you have something just be upfront with it so people without QT can avoid it. No pest scares me if it is an item I really want. Meds are available to kill all of em in QT

I found some on a wild zoa colony that I had shipped from San Diego. They were dead within seconds of being dipped in coral revive.

I dip all new corals. No matter who I got them from. I don't care if you tell me they are pest free. They're going in my tank, and it's my responsibility to make sure I'm not introducing something bad with them.

I guess back to the original topic, I just got some email coupons from Southwest Aquatics today (buy one get one free for frozen foods, and 20% off your purchase). They say the coupons expire on July 2, so I'll try to get there by then to use them, but as I was saying before, the store closes so early now it's hard for me to get there when I get off of work.

I was in there today and picked up a couple things with my coupon discount. The place didn't look bad. I was expecting worse from what people had said. They were kind of low on stock, but Jon said they were getting an order in tomorrow. I still had no problem picking out some things that I liked and would look good in my tank. Prices weren't outrageous either.

they have a rock of fire and ice zoos that I want... used to be 30 and is now 50. Still not TERRIBLE for the quantity and quality of zoos, but it changed it from a sure thing to maybe someday.

I haven't seen anything outrageous since the change.

Forrest I was there Saturday and asked about a coral... they said 69.00.. the next day (Sunday) the day I saw you, I asked again it was 29.00. Needless to say I bought it. It was a fair price at 29.00, no where near worth 69.00

It does seem like the prices have increased on alot of things... we are going back to the days where you have to keep asking the price day by day until you get one of the employee's to tell you the lowest you have heard. It is almost like they are reverse bidding without even knowing. :spin2:
