SWSW sales?

i think these salt stores need to check the laws on retail sales, all items for sale are to be clearly marked. and they must sale to all people at the same price. I like the way tropical kingdom was a list with all the prices for the livestock in all tanks. one of these days the state inspectors will catch up with those who dont follow the rules.

At least with fish etc I know that Dan has been consulting a list... The colony of zoos I was looking at has been the only one to fluctuate for me.

I like Tropical kingdoms list too. Its not only that i dont trust the owners when they tell me prices, but i hate being that guy... How much is that... How much is that... How much is that.... not only do I annoy the guy that works there, I also annoy myself.

+1 I hate being that guy too.

Dont get me wrong, Im not saying Tropical Kingdom is a good place to buy anything. If a store like that can work out a system that works better for hobbiest then why cant others?

At least some of the coral tanks at SWA have price tags now. And I give them MAJOR props for finally labeling each tank with the fish it contains, and prices! I have no idea why that was never done before. That's probably the easiest way to convey the prices of the fish that are in a tank!

Its actualy easy if you want to do it. You take price list of incoming, Tag info should be, Date recieved, Common and Scientific names, Compatability class. Print small tag and place on tank or tanks that you put the critter. When you sell or pick out dead, remove tag. Corals are a little more difficult because of numbers, but still can be done. This also makes it easier to train new help and keep them from getting ripped off. Benefits cust and owner by educating the cust and maybe getting a sale where the cust didn't know and afraid to ask. Owner has happier cust and employee's(its frustrating trying to figure prices out of 15 different shipping invoices), and less loss do to wrong ID/price. I started this in Tucson at the old Tropics of Tucson when it first opened on Ft lowell in early 80's. I was only there for about a year after opening, so please don't credit me for what happened to the salt after I left. The owner was a cheapskate, I got tired of trying to make wet/drys out of broken glass and hated counting crickets. I just needed a reminder of why I didn't want to work in a fish store again, its a hard life.

The new place is not officially open but they do have a few things in stock, salt, additives, tanks, lights, etc. Picked up some GFO yesterday…just an FYI for anyone looking for some

I was in SWA today (they were having a sale if you brought in pictures of your tank). I have got to say -- they are really stepping it up. Their coral selection was amazing. Better than I have ever seen at that store. Never before have I walked in and said about a coral, "I have to have that. I don't care how much it is, bag it up." So today was a first. AND all the livestock was priced -- even the corals had price sheets. I am very pleased with how it is turning out. If you haven't stopped by recently, you should give it a chance. They have a ton of new stuff in right now, and the prices were not bad at all, IMO.

I was also in today and had to reluctantly leave some goodies at the store. They got some great zoos in and a VERY cool tunicate. Like light blue pom-poms.

I bought a neon orange fromia sea star.

DUDE! That lollipop tunicate is what I bought! And a rock of blue zoas. And a rock of orange zoas. I saw that lollipop tunicate and I wasn't leaving without it. I couldn't believe the price too -- when I got home, I looked up what those go for online. The price I paid for the rock of blue zoas (with 100+ polyps) and the lollipop tunicate beat what I could have found them for online.
