Since I like to overfeed my tank.. I honestly feel I tend to overdo it on filtration........ My Octopus Diablo DCS-250INT 10" Skimmer is doing it's job perfectly Second, a chamber dedicated for refiguem. As I have mentioned earlier that I have lost my refiguem because of worst quality "Marine Source Dosing pump with 4 additional head. After get spoiled my refiguem I purchased Bubble magus with additional 4 heads for dosing vinegar and sugar mixtuer to reduce No3 and Po4. 15ml daily dose of Carbon is good enough for me.
Now this chamber is holding the deep sand bed growing mangroves and cheato.. Third, two little fishes two 30cm hang-on-back filter that served as a Carbon/GFO reactor.. Finally, This helped keep my nitrates at an undetectable level and my phosphate at 0.03ppm.
I am a firm believer in water changes. I perform 20 to 25% water changes every week... Weekly maintenance included emptying and cleaning the skimmer cup, replacement of filter floss, GFO, carbon, and finally vacuuming the sand bed.
The photo period is from from 11:00am to 11:00pm. The Fuji purple lit the tank for one hour then Blue T5 fire. From 11:30 to 12:30 T8 super white give little brightness to tank and prepare inhabitant for 400watts MH. MH starts on 12:00pm to 08:00pm then T8 close at 08:30 then T5 Blue actanic close at 90:30 then Fuji purple close at 11:00pm.
As said I am using Bubble magus additional 4 heads Dosing pump for maintaining alkalinity, calcium and magnesium. I am using Rendy Two part dosing recipe # 2.
I am dosing up to 15ml a day to maintain 7-7.5 dKH. 50ml calcium chloride to maintain calcium level at 430 plus 5ml of magnesium to get 1200ppm.
Specific Gravity: 1.025
pH: 8.07 - 8.38
Calcium: 430 -440 ppm
Alkalinity: 7.0 - 7.5 dKH
Magnesium: 1200 ppm
Temperature: 25.8 - 26.9oC
Phosphate: 0.03
No3: 0.0
