System 230 ECO

I purchased Giesemann System 230 ECO 24ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚ 250 watt from you guys. I spoke to Phil @ Xenia regarding this: One problem I notice was that the fixture is not balanced, meaning it leans forward. I removed one of the side covers and notice that the front has a control unit and there is nothing in the back. That is what is causing the lean, there needs to be a weight in the back in order to compensate for the control unit. He told me that it was the cord causing it to lean, which is not true.
The cord is in the back and the fixture is leaning forward. What should I do?

Hi,

Is it possible for you to take a couple pictures of the hood hanging, as well as the cord configuration and the lean that is happening?

Thanks,
Jeremy

Here a picture of the lean. As you can see the light is leaning forward. I have the cord mounted to the wall, which has no effect on the way the fixture sits. I honestly feel that it is because the T5 ballast is mounted in the front.

Thanks for taking the time to post the pic. I am going to grab one Monday morning and pull it out of the box and see what I can find out. I will get back to you then.

Thanks,
Jeremy

That's a really nice fixture you got there and I know somebody who has the same exact one, the fixture however was designed to be that way. The weight in the front is meant to counter balance the cord that hangs off from it in the back. It won't work with the cord holder you got there. you need to take this out and let the cord hang normally, at least thats whats I've been told, but again he might be wrong.

I thought that too, but it seems stupid to have the cord laying on the fixture. What if you decide to have the cords go straight up along the hanging wire and have the ballast in the ceiling. I thought that is what the fixture was really designed for. Thanks BTW I do love the fixture I just don't like the lean. Maybe I'll just suck it up and let the cords lay on the fixture.

Hi,

I tested one out and am getting the exact same lean as you are. I have a couple things you could try, in which one was mentioned above....

1. Adjust your cord lower so that the weight of the cord offsets the weight of that ballast.

Or

2. You could pull off one of the endcaps and actually weight the back of the hood with something since you mounted your cords up higher on the wall.

Thanks,
Jeremy
