t5 and a carpet anemone

Would t5 lighting be sufficient for a green carpet anemone?

My next tank is going to be an anemone tank and I am planning it already:D

Yes it should, i mean, how many bulbs is the fixture, does it have individueal reflectors and how big is the tank? but T5's are comparable and even sometimes more powerful thank halides (somtimes)...but indefinately T5's are cooler, and easier to keep. I am in love with T5's, and if my SPS can THRIVE under my T5's, im SURE a carpet could aswell.

Does anyone have a green carpet under t5's??? If so, do you have any pictures??? Whats the difference between t5's and t8's???

T5's are thinner...and Yes, my friend Dan does, it is thriving and healthy. I dont have pics of his tank, but he may post a pic later when he reads this.

he has to work 15 hours a day to support his wife and 9 children who live in Indonesia, so yeah, just post them tomorrow man, get your rest, you have another busy day tomorrow, Aquaholics...

With T5s the watts\per gallon don't really compute the way they would with something like MH because proper reflectors can boost lighting output by 300%

With my 4x54w teklights fixture I have SPS\clam and could probably do an anemone perfectly fine.

Macawmagic has a rbta under his t5s too

individual reflectors give off 300% more of the light, but Dan (ryan) had an anemone long before he got the indi.'s on the lights, so it can survive with enought light even with out them.

On flourescent lighting, the number after the "T" indicates the diameter of the bulb in 1/8" increments. Therefor a T5 bulb is 5/8" diameter, a T8 is 8/8" or 1" diameter, a T12 is 1.5" diameter.

i havent decided on the dimensions yet. It is going to be my 2 clownfish and a carpet anemone so I am thinking maybe 18 x 14 x 14, but I am toying with 16 x 16 x 12 as well. I have to build a box out of wood to see how it will look. I know for a fact that it will have a 10 gallon sump and either t5 or mh lighting (unless i can find a solaris unit for less then $900). Not really sure though. When I start building it I will buy a camera and start a build thread.

hahaha, i do the same thing, then i can use the box to accurately mesure where to hang the lights, and to built a stand, or whatever....cool stuff

did you have a fixture in mind? like have you seen a light you wanted to get for it?

I have not decided on anything yet. I was even thinking about making it a coffee table tank. Who knows though

You'd have to look back in the clam forums but there is an AWESOME coffee table clam tank with like a clear top.. its absolutely gorgeous.. like, I'd pay $$$$ to have one setup like that for me maybe it could be something fun to look at while you plan :)

I'll try to find it later but i need to go get some sleep
