Unless you're over-driving them (which I assume you're not), it's not the lights.

what could it be ? I notice with the t5's they started to turn colors... when under MH they where fine.

my candy apples, RPE with pink rims, cat eyes, and this frag are all pale.

Here is a pic of the cat eyes

Kerry, did you just changed from mh's to T5s?

Yeah temporary , I am about to change back once my pendant made.

Ah...changed lights. Key bit of omitted information there. I don't have MH (all T5 and PC), so don't notice much of a change when moving things around. If anything, I'd suspect four 20w tubes aren't providing enough light.

Thats what I was thinking but all other zoas are brightly colored. In reality they are only getting 40 watts of 10k lighting.

Its just the few frags that are like that.

Yup, thats the big difference there Kerry.

Its light shock.

Should I move them up high ? I thought they where bleaching so I place them at the bottom.

move them to a slightly shaded or indirect light till then acclimate to the Halides. Same thing goes to when you put stronger lights, new bulbs or differet kelvin rated bulbs.. some folks put layers of eggcrate. then slowly remove layer by layers till the corals get used to the new lighting.

I think I confused everyone. I went from MH to t5 and they are bleached. I plan to go back to MH in a few weeks. The T5 lights are temp lights

If the t5's are not enough light compared to the MH how did they get bleached ?

Different type of lighting, PAR, KELVIN rating etc....

As well as planetary alignment, lunar phase, and prime Julian dates. I've had zoanthids do poorly in one tank, but thrive in another. There sometimes is no obvious explanation for their behavior. You just have to sometimes experiment a little find their spot.
