How can you tell when the lamps need to be changed. I know they will last for 12-24 months. Can you tell by the light moving away/changing near the ends of the bulbs. I think there is a black/dark line at the lamps ends. Just want to get the most out of the bulbs, but don't want to lost growth/parr.
Thanks,
Phil

They are overdriven. I wanted to know if there is a way to tell by looking at the bulb if it is near the end. I have changed a few bulb (new one) and bought some used (3-6 months on them). It is kind of hard to know when they should be changed out just by going on a time table.
Thanks for any help.
Phil

If they are being overdriven you need to change them out every months.

That seems a little excessive, but anyway can I borrow some money????

I would also be interested in knowing if there is a surefire way to tell how much life is left in a bulb. I'm not sure that par value tells the whole story, i.e. spectrum degradtion/change.

I was always told that the par is not so much effected as its more of a shift in spectrum. Just regular scheduled replacement is the only way to do it unless you have a spectrometer.

I believe the black line at the end is the dead/cold spot that is not firing. all bulbs have it, Gman seem to have a bigger one. Cooling the end caps can reduce the black spot and preserve bulb life.
