I'm thinking of adding some t5 lighting to my led setup. The light I'm running is a razor 120w on a 30 in long tank and I feel I just need a little extra. Looking at this kit http://www.aquacave.com/24-2x24w-miro-4-t5-retrofit-kit.html. I have seen ppl add them to the light I'm just wondering is it more cost effective to but the kit or but individual parts.

I bought all the individual parts at FAOIS when I added 2 T5's to my set up. About the same price and you'll be supporting local business. It might be a couple bucks more but its worth it to support local business- especially in this hobby.

I definitely don't mind buying local at all just the travel there stinks. Got to know he has everything to make one.

Here are some reflectors.

Here's a great ballast.

Premium Aquatics also sells the endcaps and standoffs.

So that's $20 + 12 ship on reflectors = $32
the ballast is $25 the endcaps/standsoffs = $32 that's $64 plus a few bucks on wiring from home depot/lowes.

Usually I wouldn't say it but for FAOIS i will. If you can give them the local sale that'd be cool.

I supplement my led with 1 blue+ 1 coral+ and it turn out very nice 16k look ,the coral+ make your corals pop out.

Regardless of where you buy your components I am very interested in seeing your results. I have the same light and have considered adding t5 retrofits as well.

I'll definitely keep this posted on the light build. Going to call faios tomorrow and see if he has everything I'm looking for.

Just FYI. I have the following for sale. I'm asking $40.00 for everything. You would just need to get the ballast.

4 x 24" reflectors with bulb clips
T5 moisture resistant end caps for two bulbs
4 x moisture resistant 4 pin connectors.

Picked up the reflectors and end caps today thanks Webmanny. Now just need to pick up a ballast and the bulbs. Can't wait to install this.

Get the ballast I linked. Same ballast used in ATI fixtures.

For bulbs i'd go with a Blue+ and a Coral+ or both Coral+.

Update on this. I finally have everything I need to finally install my t5s. I will be installing it tomorrow and I'll post pics of when it's done.

Here is the retro fit light all done. I just need to zip tie the wires to the top but I don't have small ones right now but will tomorrow. I picked up giesemann aquapink and actinic+. Anyone using these bulbs.

Thanks it was very easy to setup. I just hope my corals will like it lol
