T5 lamp PAR readings

I am going from memory here but I think the Aquascience is the same lamps as the new ATI's. ATI's are made by Osram, as in Osram-Sylvania. Narva is a manufacturer who built the old ATI's and as far as I know is still making the D&D Geisemann T5's..

Actually, an insider from a German reefing company contacted me (because I can read German, and he saw I knew something about this stuff), and gave me the inside scoop about ATI, Aquascience, etc. If you are interested Grim, OM me, I can forward parts to you. Interesting to say the least. But I would say its safe to say that the Aquascience bulbs would be very nice to get a hold of... more so than ATIs.

Yeah, that's one of the ones I ordered (UVL actinic for my actinic), but was still kind of curious of the comparison between the two.

Hey Grim, i was wondering what your personal recommendations for a 4 bulb teklight fixture would be? You posted a recommendation awhile back but just wanted to see if you found a better choice.

I kinda like the colors to pop out like in HQI / MH setups and i want something that'll help corals grow.

Thanks a bunch

Hey Grim what do think would be the best bulb combination for a 6 bulb 80 watt retro. I think only giesemann makes them.

OK, Here's the latest readings taken with the lamps running on a triad ballast. The numbers are only good for comparison here. Previous readings I took were with a different ballast and reflector so don't try to compare the two.

ATI

Sun Pro 357
Aquablue 336
Blue Plus 311
Actinic 137

D&D/Giesemann

Midday 325
Aquablue 324
Actinic Plus 264
Pure Actinic 157

AquaZ

Sun Pro 285
Ocean Pro 323
Blue Pro 266

Helios

Daylight 309
Super Blue 225

Current Sun Paq

Daylight 10K 272
Blue 252

GE Daylight 340

where are you guys getting all these bulbs? all i know is reefgeek, hellolights, MD and they dont carry some of those...

i am getting the new 8 bulb ATI's from reefgeek and i need to get bulbs... what do you guys reccomend for a nice color combo.. i have lots of colorfulfish and tank is 99% SPS

i am looking for a nice rich blue, i have 250 w DE Ushio 14K along with a 6 lamp SLS T5 fixture, but i would like to get better supplimentation with the T5's but not sacrafice growth as my MH only run for 5 hours a day.
I dont want to look at a "white" tank. i like the look of 20K MH bulbs.. how would i go about getting both growth and that rich 20K color with an 8 bulb ATI fixture?

I would do 1 GE Daylight, 1 Actinic or Super Actinic, 1 Aquablue and the rest Blue Plus. The Blue Plus have a good amount of PAR as does the GE and Aquablue.

Will that bulb combo give me descent sps growth as well or should i still depend on my Mh for that?

That combo is going to have a lotta PAR. You might want to keep an eye on critters that are higher in the tank and not directly under a halide reflector.

lol really? so i can get color and growth...? what should i keep an eye out for those critters?

ps i know that the ATI thread you had was removed but i wanted to ask you if you think they are a worthy purchase over SLS?

Hey Grim, I haven't tried the UV Aqua Sun's yet and thinking about giving one a go. I really like what you said above about bringing out the reds and purples, I need that. Do you think it will be yellow out my look, I have what I would say a 14K look now.
This is what I'm running front to back:

UV Super Actinic
ATI 12000 K
Geismann Actinic Plus
ATI 12000K
Geismann 11000 Aquablue Plus
ATI Blue Plus

Give it a shot, should look good. The GE 3K does a better job but some people don't like the look.

Does a better job at what? Why don't they like the look?
