Well, it's definitely a popular light, there is at least s slight difference between them (like the Aquablue Coral is very slightly less pinkish versus the Coral Plus, the Actinic Blue is a slightly deeper blue than the Blue Plus, etc, but most people won't notice a difference).Yes, my mistake, I was thinking of KZ.
None the less it's clearly not that difficult to match an existing bulb and it would appear that Narva was happy to do that for them.
I too was lured in by the 'rich turquoise blue' of the Lagoon blue. Unfortunately I bought 10 for my 10 tube fixture. They just looked yellow green to me and I eventually replaced 7 of them with six Actinic+ and 1 purple+. Still, I suppose I now have enough for the next two bulb changes......
no problem, was a lot of work but it gave me something to doGreat info, thanks for your effort on putting it all together!
Yeah, bulb break-in can seemingly do funky things, that's why I wanted to break in all the lamps before getting any photos. So the Blue+ held par(422) the same after 100 hrs and it's counter part Geismann Antinic Blue went down from 391 to 361, an 8% drop.........that's baaaad.
On top of that the Geismanns 48" (most common size) cost $3 more per bulb.
That's what I was thinking, and I got clarification that it was not a misprint. Is the Ati actinic a misprint? It went up from 266 to 369??
My reef contains leather corals, gorgonians, and anemones, all of which grow either slowly or extremely slowly, so I don't really have any useful data. To me, realistically, the T5 are there for flood lighting to fill in the gaps/shadows.Jedi I am interested to know if you saw any difference between the LEDs and t5s when it came to growth.
i apologize for off topic question Jedi,is the pictured tank a de-rimmed 40 breeder?
What is your preferred tank color? I think adding purple lamps would be a bit too purple, even with the Kessils going. If you run the Kessils on the bluer side, the blue will mix with the red in the T5 lamps and will make the light look even more purple to the eye. I would probably do a pair of white lamps, either Coral Plus or Aquablue Coral. This has been a helpful thread thinking through lighting for my tank. I have a 120g reef lit by 3 kessil 360we led's. I am adding 2 39w T5's to give more spread and bring in some additional color. I am thinking about going with either 2 Purple + or 2 Super Purple T5's. I hope I can balance out color with the extra red/purple light with my white/blue. I also wonder about heat as they will be retro fitted inside a canopy.
The Coral Plus isn't really purple in hue, it has a very slight pink tone to it, as it doesn't have enough red in ratio to blue to get it to be purple. Do you have any local reefers that use T5 that you could buy lamps with? Then you could order several, figure out what you like, and then they would take the rest.I would really like to get that red/purple color in the mix. How would going with one purple+ and then go with blue+ or actinic? I guess the Coral Plus does have a tint of the purple in the bulbs. I do run the tank on the bluer side with the led's.
Yeah, the Kessils are very short in the cyan and red spectrum. Probably a pair of whites or a white and a purple are going to get you where you want to beThat may be a possibility. The pink tone is what I feel that I am missing with the kessil. My red, orange, and purple corals lack pop. I could do 2 coral coral+ to bring in some other colors. I am just not sure.
