i am debating on whether to get T5 of halides. in your opinion which is better considering the side effects for growing sps coral

well i had 300 watts of metal halide over my 75g tank and didn't have very much growth or "great" color. now i have 324 watts of t-5 and have great color and great growth. i went the t-5 route mainly bc i wanted to try something not many people had, also a lot less heat than metal halide. now if you were comparing 2 400w metal halides to a 6 bulb t 5 setup there would be no comparison. hth, good luck.

Im glad to hear this... I will be using T5's on a frag grow-out tank im setting up.

Im guessing that you had (2) 150W on your 75, correct?. I have (2) 150W on my 30 but dont have that many SPS. ( the Monti cap that is 2" below the surface doesnt seem to mind!)

I agree that the 400W would leave the T5's in the dust.... however, anything less than 400W would have pretty good competition from the T5's. Just my opinion.
