t5 nova extreme fixture and a 58

i think i've settled on the nova extreme 36" fixture for my 58. from all i've read, while economincal, the lack of individual reflectors really hurts the performance of these guys. also, a 58 is a fairly deep tank, but i only keep softies, zoos and a few LPS.

do you guys think this fixture would work with my set up, or do i need to crack the piggy bank?

From a lighting standpoint for those corals, that light should be fine. The individual reflectors give you a bunch more output over the single reflector, but for the price it looks like you'll get what you need for now. I have never seen the sunpaq T5 bulbs, so I don't know how they look compared to ATI, UVL, and Giesemann.

The BIG caveat I'd say for that lamp is that it does not appear to have waterproof endcaps. CKreef has had his T5 hood (I don't know what brand) catch fire twice. His does not have waterproof endcaps. I'd say that the biggest risk with the nova extreme will be the potential fire hazard (if it doesn't have waterproof endcaps).

I have a nova extreme 48'' 8 bulbs 75 gal tank for 1 1/2 years just use the legs that come with the light that will keep water out of the light I can keep just about everthing nice light

get with Sean at Emerald Bay and check out the coralvue t-5 lights. They have waterproof endcaps. This is what Im putting on my tank 8x54 t-5s on my 90.

I have an Aquactinics TX5 HO 36" Series Fixture that would work for your 58 gallon tank. Later if you want to keep SPS you should be fine.
