i have a 40 breeder with acro and other sps. would a 4x39 with indivd reflectors be enough lighting. im trying to down grade a little to say on power, my other tank has 3x250 and 4x110 vho. so i cant keep paying 175/month for electric in a 2 bedroom apt. please leave some ideas

I think a four lamp fixture would be just fine on a 40 breeder tank if you use a fixture with individual reflectors...I have a six lamp TEK fixture on my 75 and get excellent growth.

Well if you have a 6 bulb on your 75g why would you recommend 4 bulbs on a 40g breeder? Both tanks are 18" wide correct?

12" wide = 4 bulbs
18" wide = 6 bulbs
24" wide = 8 bulbs
etc. although it comes to a point with really wide tanks that you may not need full front to back coverage.
