table corals

JB NY
BEAUTIFUL i am a table lover but can never find them
did anny of you guys by a table frag from live aquaria they are selling frags of a table coral and i am wonduing if its worth it what are your guys thoughts on that?
and any of you guys frag those gorgus things????? i would love to get my hands on some of those frags

Personally, as much as I think they are beautiful. I will not buy them any more. Wild tables are very hard to keep alive long term. I've lost about 5 really good ones that I paid a ton of money for. Also, when they do live, as time goes on they just get too big for an aquarium.

My advice is that if you want to try one, get a frag from someone who has had a table alive and growing for more than a year.

i have an eflo in my tank about 6in from the surface with not much coler should i put it lower in the tank
and siriously do anny of you guy frag your tables ???? i would love to get a piece

JB NY
thxs i will keep that in mind thats why im ganna see if anny of these guys have good stable frags the corals always tern out beter when there from a fello reefer

JB NY realy awesome growth. Did that go to Atlantis marine world? Im from Ny also, and that is an awesome place, all of you Reefers should check it out.

Anybody have tips on keeping tables? I just ordered one, coming in on Friday. Going in a 30g. Im using 400w 12k Reeflux and I have a wavebox as well. Any special notes to be weary of regarding water parameters or anything you guys have noticed from experience. Also are they very fragile ?

JB and others.......what would you consider a faster growing species.......hyacinthus or efflorescens? Looking for a table for its own island but can't decide which way to go? Also many of the Hyacinthus i am seeing are red....is that its more common color? could i expect to find a hyacinthus in something other than a red shade?

I grew this from a frag, similar to Tyree aquarium city millepora. It has tabled nicely.

I like putting tables on ledges... but since I added 4 mjmods I think they will grow anywhere now:)

Tables, especially soli's and efflo's are my favorite SPS. Everyone has been posting some real beauties.

wow just amazing!!

Aquaticman74 I haven't seen too many red/pink tables that are in people's tanks for a few years. They seem to do well for 6-14 months then take a turn for the worse.

I just bought the same one from my LFS and was wondering what the best location and flow would be for it? I have a 90 gallon with 2X250mh and 440 VHO, 4 seio 1600's how should place it.

Thanks
Tony

hey tony...

as u can see mines basically on the bottom of the tank sitting on a rock there.... so its not in the brightest area but its got great color and growth

its under 3-phoenix 14k's 250 in PFO pendants and PFO HQI ballast

the flow in that area is pretty turbulent and random.... u can see how the sand is missing its when the OceansMotions and my Seios meet in the center makes a very turbulent area and it seems to thrive in it

heres a shot as u can see its on the bottom and doing well

is urs yellow also and how big is it?

MurphReef

Right now mine is in a column and is light blue and dark blue. I will try and get a berfoe picture tonight.

Hey Murphreef (justin) and Seansod,

I have the same table as you have. This picture is 2 months old. It´s placed in high ramdom flow, low in the center of the tank.
PE in the picture is not so good; I experienced that this corals is sensitive for alk fluctuation, or just low alkanity.
Now keeping it steady 9, PE and growth is much better! (about 1"a month) It also coloured up a bit (lighter, like Murphsreef)

I always wanted to know what kind of coral it was, nice to see some other pieces! (to see what it will be in the future ;))

I got a 12" wild tricolor A. cerealis a couple months ago. The few frags I cut to share are doing well, but this is the most challenging colony I've ever bought. Never again will I buy a large wild table. I'm getting STN from the base up.
Tomorrow I've got a day off and it's going under the bone cutters to salvage what I can. Should wind up with about 20 good pieces, hope they all take.

That's a shame. IME, STN from the base is the most common way for a table to go. Good luck.

Thought it may have been flow, but with 2 of 3 outlets from a Mag12 on it (one bouncing off the glass, one w/a Hydor directly at it) that should be fine.
Thanks for the condolences, hopefully I can grow out a healthier colony from the frags.
