Tahitian Butterfly fish

Okay, I have recieved pm's and have everyones add on's. I will get them in to Blue Zoo by tomorrow end of day. So by Friday should have a ship date. Let you all know when I get the delivery date. Hopefully this one will not be coming way of any big snow storms.

Turned in additions yesterday. Don't have a ship date. They said they would get back with me next week to set ship date. They are checking to see if everything old and new order is in stock. At this time Mike said he sees no problem. I will post as soon as I know something more.

Spoke to Mike at Blue Zoo today. They have the entire order including new additions in stock and will be ready to ship on Thursday. So delivery will deliver on Friday. Hope this will be good for everyone. I will plan on being available after 4:00 for pick up.

So far I have one in the group that will be unable to pick up on Friday or the weekend. And possible snow could be an issue who knows. I need to hear back from everyone in the group as to thoughts on Friday delivery and if Tuesday delivery would work for everyone. I will contact Blue Zoo to inquire on another ship out date.

What I gathered from the majority was that next Tuesday was a more convenient time for delivery. And I think everyone is wanting to play it safe and recieve alive this time. Anyway, I have confirmed that delivery will be next Tuesday.

Okay, it is a go for delivery tomorrow. Everything is in stock I have been told. So I will sometime in the am pick up group order. I will post tomorrow when I have order in hand. Probably have order ready for pick up after 3:00.

Just picked up our fish order. This time the process went very smoothly and arrived when promised. This is the way it is supposed to go. I will be available anytime after 3:00for pick up.

Thanks Doug. All seem to have aclimated well and are crusing their new home. The Harliquine shrimp was even eating with in minutes of being in the tank. :)

I have seen that my file fish are already eating aptasia. They are in my frag tanks. If I notice them eating anything else not on the menu then they will go in my sumps. But so far I have been pleased.

I was quite worried as I was drip acclimating my tiny filefish last night. He was being very dormant head down in the bucket, and his tail was limp. However, it seemed the longer the drip ran the more lively he got. By the time I introduced him to the tank he was swimming all over the place.

What nobody seems to mention is how quickly they can change color pretty rapidly. Mine seems to like to hang near the overflow covered in GSP and turns a very nice shade of green. As he moves to the rockwork he will change to a similar shade, and if he's up top near the surface he looks like a ghost. Very neat to watch.

They swim around much like a seahorse. I was worried with heavy flow he would have problems but has no issue with direct streams from the powerheads/returns. I have not seen him personally eat any aptasia yet but we'll keep our fingers crossed!

Had a similar experience with one of mine. After acclimating him, I added both of them to the frag tank (good place for me to observe and keep an eye on them). I watched them off and on yesterday evening. Then around 8pm, I left them alone for awhile. Opps! Went back in to check on them before bed around 11pm. The smaller of the two was gone. After looking for awhile, he had to be in the filter sock leading to the sump. Sure enough, poor guy was getting tumbled in the filter sock. Wasn't real sure how his condition would be after being so sluggish before that happened. Well it must have woke him up. I pulled the filter sock off the pipe, dumped the contents out in my hand, at that point the fish started chirping in my hand. When I put it back in the frag tank he was swimming all over the place and acting very lively.:fun4:

My 3 file fish are worker bees and very active. I am well pleased with the order from Blue Zoo. Everything was very well packed and the overall experience from what I have seen is good. That is after the box of death.
Hope to hear from everyone else how their order is doing.

I have sad news. I lost one of the clowns to the filter sock while I was at work yesterday, and the other seemed very distraught swimming franticly all over the top of the tank, I don't know what happened but he didn't make it through the night. The file, and tang are doing very well. Haven't seen the Harly since he was put in but I'm sure hes just gorged with asterinas! Anyway I'll try again on a pair of clowns soon.

I have to admit these fish are really entertaining to watch. And I don't think there that ugly at all. I mean it's not like looking at a $200 tang or anything... My hasn't changed his color that much. But he just cruises the tank at it his own speed. (Which is like a quarter of the speed of any other fish.) Only time will tell though if they will eat all the aptasia .
