Taking The Plunge Tomorrow!

Heading to Go Fish tomorrow afternoon and just have a few questions. Reminder: my tank is the 29g Coralife Biocube with 8 or 9 hermits and two toadstool coral. My tests have been nice and steady at: PH-8.1 Ammo-0 Nitrite-0 Nitrate-20 Calcium-400 KH API liquid test kit - 12d/kh Salinity 1.024

1. I'm going to need to buy some water & salt so I can do another water change tomorrow.
Last week I did about a 4.5g water change. This week I should do about the same, right? Since I'm going to be coming home with fish and etc. Would it be smart to do the water change as I'm acclimating them or should I just wait a day or two for the new arrivals to settle before doing the water change?

2. Should I get a pair of clowns? Are they happier in a pair? If they end up breeding will all the eggs get eaten so I don't have to deal with it? Is it better to get two little baby clowns of the same size or to get a pair which is seemingly already sexed?

3. Can I add a shrimp into my tank yet? I know that GoFish is out of the cleaner shrimp but I would like another type as well - would it be okay to do that when adding two fish?

4. Also would like to buy some snails and I'm thinking maybe something that will clean my sand some. The hermits are so rarely in the sand and the snails don't usually do much sand-wise right? What do you guys think?

5. So all in all I'm hoping to leave GoFish with two fish, snails, and an invert of some kind and then 1-3 frags ....is this way too much? I'm thinking it might be and would like to know what you all feel is a better option if this is a bad idea.

Thank you!! Very excited & nervous
:)

They had a pair of ocellaris, a pair of snowflake, and saddlebacks. So what I would do is think about the type of clowns that you want. I would look maybe on seaandreef.com just to look at the different types. Then make the decision as to what you want. I know you are excited to get a fish, but it's better to know what you want than to get it for the sake of getting it.

I forget exactly how long your tank has been up and cycled for, so I'm not sure about adding as much as you want to add. However, if your cleanup crew seems to be doing ok and you've been cycled for a while, I don't see any harm in adding a shrimp and a fish or two.

The crabs seem to be doing great. No problems at all and the coral seem very happy as well.

I will look at that site and see what looks good to me. Just wondering if you'd recommend getting one or two?

all depends on how many fish you want to have in tank... but if you want a pair, jmo , i would try to get them at the same time.

I vote for a pair of clowns to start. You might want to consider price when making your clown decision as well...the fancier ones are pretty expensive. Our Snowflake ocellaris was over $70 and the black ocellaris was around $45 I think..

Think they still had a peppermint shrimp or 2, that was one of the first things we added to the tank and both are still with us. They molt every 3 weeks or so and are both deep red now....they were almost transparent are first.

We really enjoy watching the nassarius snails coming out of the sand when we feed everyone...get some!

IMO I would get a pair of clowns and skip the shrimp and like sass said try a nassarius snail or 2

What kind of clowns are you planning on getting?
If they are a high end pair I would not get them first as if something goes wrong your throwing a bunch of money away.
I started with a Yellow Watchman a pistol shrimp and Royal Gramma
All on the cheaper side

After they were all good a few weeks later I sprung for the bonded pair

Collin - we will probably be in around 230 or 3 so probably.just miss you.

After thinking about it I'm probably going to go with a young pair of the cheaper ocellaris if they have them.

If not then probably a goby or blenny of some kind and a royal gramma or firefish.

Definitely nassarius snails and maybe a turbo or two.

Also need to grab a syringe/squirter if they have it because I've got a few hydroids I need to take care of.

And probably grab some dry goods too. Chemi-pure, salt, etc.

Okay leaving in a few mins. Going to the outlets first for a couple things. :D

He seems to have a good personality
It will be interesting when he sees the Yellow Watchman.
The Yellow like to posture whenever something comes near the hole

On our way home with two ocellaris clowns, a cleaner shrimp, two astrea turbo snails, 4 nassarius and some chemi-pure and formula one pellets and extra hermit crab shells.

Going back home to do a small pwc while acclimating. Yay! :D

Awesome Steph! Post some pictures later for us!!

Well - everyone is good and acclimated and swimming around. The clowns are staying right up front so far...the shrimp originally turned yellowish and started doing laps like crazy! He has since relaxed and is exploring a little bit. The zoas are very slowly opening up. I added the chemipure which is making things a bit murky (I assume this is normal??) I haven't really noticed the snails so far.

Put the actinics on cuz I reeeeally wanna see the zoas...is that okay?

I love my tank today! We took the extra piece of Tonga branch that was making it look terribly cluttered and moved a small piece that was in the front. Would like to move more around but the timing seemed bad so....maybe next time.

Also kinda hating putting hands into tank because last night we saw this nasty long gray worm thing in one of the rocks. After doing some investigating online im 95% sure its a peanut worm. Anyone else have any of these?

Didn't get to deal with kris much but Jim (my boyfriend did) and kris gave him the second $10 zoa frag free. Neon dragons eye or something. Thanks Kris!

Altogether very very happy with the $120 we spent today :D Pics to follow a little later.

Pretty sure we saw you guys there but didn't want to ask incase it wasn't you. Didn't want to sound like a crazy person!

Lmao I saw a couple couples there and also didn't want to ask ...it'd be awkward if it wasn't you (or us). So no worries we understand lol. Did you guys end up getting anything??
