Tamarin Wrasse Primer.

I picked up a small yellow tail 3 weeks ago, I put her directly into my DT instead of doing the QT. I guess that is the norm with this family of wrasse though. She is just over an inch and was picking at the rocks in the Lfs. They tried to feed her some cyclopleez and she passed on it. I put her in the tank and she started picking right away at the rocks, I know there is a heavy pod population in the tank. After 3 weeks of using live brine and introducing frozen mysis and spurlina brine she is finally eating prepared foods. She has a nice fat belly and hangs out with the multicolor angel that I introduced a week later out of QT.

Quick question for all you wrasse junkies...

I saw an absolutely stunning lennardi waiting for export recently. The fish was easily a foot long but had the most amazing facial markings...nothing like the smaller ones half its size.

I was briefly tempted to take one or two of the smaller ones home until the proprietor said my blood shrimp would almost certainly be on the menu. Is this true of most of these wrasses?

thanks for your help!

I've noticed a lot of big ones coming out of your neck of woods over the last year. My big ones (~9") have not pounded any of my Lysmata shrimp... They are model citizens in fact...

No not from Theo....they come from Nijmegen in the Netherlands from an LFS there....these are still 2 female's one a bit smaller then the other
Is that the pair from Theo? They looked really great, if I didnt already had a pair I would have bought them.

Hey guys I have been hearing a clicking sound from my tank and I started watching closer and it's when my red tail tamarin is working the rocks and I can hear him bite the rock. Nuts . Haven't ever heard any other fish do this besides a trigger. Just wondered if any one else has that experience .

I have 7 tamarins and they all 'click'. When searching for food, or when the males see themselves in the glass.
Sometimes they drive me crazy, it's like sitting next to a machine gun.

Hey guys, Just wondering if anyone has a full male Lennardi's, anyone with pictures??? I can't seem to find any photos of the male.
