Tang aggression towards himself

So I have a Powder Blue in a 125. He's about 3-1/2 to 4" right now. Eats like a horse and is very health. However...... he is annoying me to no end. Every night when the room lights dim, he goes on a rampage against his reflection. He just goes crazy and it's really annoying.

He has been doing this for about 1-1/2 months now and I"m wonder if I have a dumb fish, and will this ever stop.

Print out pics of a powder blue the same size and tape several pics on the outside so he sees them. He will grow tired of it and stop eventually. My melanarus does this from time to time

Send it to therapy lol. Sorry, I don't know what to tell you. I had an African flameback angel that did loops around my powerhead and nothing I could do till I downgraded and traded him to a fish store lol

The picture thing works, I have done it 3 times now with the wrasse

I'd argue that if you've had to do it 3 times, it hasn't worked ;)

Are the tank lights staying on after the ambient room lighting is going down? I have some fish that can start to see their reflections (I think) as it gets dark out, and they display at the glass. Not really much to do except adjust tank lighting schedule I think. The only ones that I have that do it are wrasses, and the only one violent about it is my cleaner wrasse. My powder blues could care less..

Haha yes Ami you have a point... The last two times I have done it was because I was trying to get the wrasse to flash at the picture so I could net him out without tearing my tank apart... That ended in a fail both times. The first time it did work but there may have been other factors that were involved in it working for me

thanks for the discussion everyone. It is definitely the reflection due to the dark room. The tank beside where we typically watch TV, so leaving a light on is just not an option, and dimming the tank lights at 7pm isn't either.

I'll try the picture method and see how things go.

I have a Coral Beauty that does the same.

To the OP: Put another tang in your tank. That will give your PBT something else to go on a rampage against (I'm only kidding :celeb1:).

Fish and mirrors are a great combination.
I had a Desjardini that waited all day for me to put the mirror up.
