tang agression in multi species

well i have an upgrade coming in the future and i plan to house laundry list of tangs. they are the following:
achilles
black
powder brown
vlamingi
unicorn
blue unicorn
chevron
dont worry they will have sufficient room. but my question is do any of these tangs tend to battle alot?
do any of these tangs frequently develope a taste for corals? they will be in a mixed reef.
what order should i add them in?
im fully aware of thier dietary needs, swimming space requirements, and qting because they are so prone to ich. but i dont know about each of these fish temperments towards one another. in addition everywhere i read up on tangs i see them as being reef safe. but i can recall a few threads of people claiming they developed a taste for corals. TIA

wow!... quite a list. I sure hope you have a BIG BIG tank cause the Unicorn gets real BIG full grown and is a super robust fish needs lots and lots of space. As long as you have enough room in the tank the fishes should stay away from one another. about the reef safe part, yeah they are safe like 90% of the time and you never know which one of your tang would be the lucky winner of a coral nibbler.

Yeah, the size of this tank is a major factor for us to consider before answering your questions. Just simply saying, "don't worry, they will have sufficient room" is not enough info.

System specs?

9'x6'x30" is the tanks dimensions. thats over 1,000g. these will be the only large fish in the system. the only other fish will be some pseudos and wrasses.

Honestly, I dont think thats big enough for a unicorn tang. These things get like 28". Go see the ones at your aquarium.

The aquarium near me has a 5000g tank, that is probably 20ft long, and it still looks cramped.

I think there could be issues with the Achilles and Powder Brown

with that size tank and added at the same time you should be fine.

I agree with rich unicorns get big maybe extend your length and shorten the width a little would be better suited. maybe 10-12ft and 4ft width. Hopefully that wouldnt have to be built on site i know you don't want to do that as you stated in previous threads.

ive seen them at the newport aquarium in kentucky and they are big fish. i asked some questions about them in captivity and the tour guide said in thier tanks they normally get around the 20" mark.
yeah the unicorn was one that i "had to have". i've always wanted to house one monster and i think the unicorn would be the fish to aim for.
i guess i was thinking he would have a 30ft "track" to roam around in.
would it make a difference if i took off a foot of width and threw on a 16" or so to the length?

Achilies are a nightmare for various reasons. If you can find a healty one, then they will do good, but tender your expectations - it can be very hard to find healty, disease free, eating specimins that adapt well to captivity.

You could keep a unicorn for a while. If you can find a home, ahead of time, for a large unicorn, then get a small one and raise it up until it gets too cramped. The key here is finding a suitable home for it before you leap in.

The rest of the list look fine.

Some tangs will eat coral. It seems to be up to the individual. In my FOWLR, I have a sailfin, hippo and PBT that are know coral eaters - LPS, Softies and SPS. I would say that most tangs are 95% safe though.

ive heard about achilles being tough fish to house. alot of places sell them as "advanced only". but from what i understand, most of thier problems come in with them or arise during acclimation. but if a can find a healthy one and it can survive the qt and then acclimation to the display, i should be in the clear. i feel the params will stay extremely stable in this size setup.
as for the unicorn, i will definently pursue that. i knew that even with a 1,000g+ tank, people would come out and say thats not big enough. thats why i was hesistant to even post this thread. out of everyones posts, only one has actually responded to my questions. i will buy the unicorn small. if it ever gets to a point where the fish seems unhealthy or unhappy because of inadequate swimming space, i'll act accordingly.

I keep a wide variety of tangs together. I even break the rules, like don't keep more than one Yellow Tang, or don't keep more than one similar looking tang. But it works out fine. There is some territory inf-fighting here and there, normal spats, but nothing to cause concern.

Yeah i have a orange shoulder, naso, purple, yellow, red sea sailfin and a black tang. They all get along great. they eat like pigs. I am breaking the rules, but my fish have been together over 2 yrs.
