tang confusion

I am in the process of planning the fish roster for a new 125 g reef aquarium (not yet fully set up). I have been reading very diffrent things about the Powder Brown (Acanthurus japonicus) vs. the Whitecheeck (Acanthuris Nigricans). Some sources say the Japonicus is the hardier species and others say Nigricans is the more durable fish. Is there any current consensus on this or personal experience with either? Also, I have a Longnose Butterfly that I would like to transfer to the new tank as well. Will he be safe with either tang (or any other for that matter). If he stands to get thrashed then I will probably be (regretfully) willing to give him up since he has ben a modl reef citizen for two years.

I would allow the butterfly to set up his territory before I add a tang. I think you will be ok as long as the tang is the last to be added. JMO

Agreed. Add the Butterfly first. Wait a couple of weeks (if possible) and then add the Tang.
If you're able to maintain that Butterflyfish you'll (easily) be able to maintain either of those Tangs in your new reef aquarium.
