Tang eating rubberbands

This is wsz594 by the way, for some strange reason my password wont work anymore and the system wont send me the password retrieval link. :angryfire:
so I made a new account so I could contact the site to get it resolved. Anyway for the third time I found my sailfin tang with a rubberbaid coming out him. Im talking a big rubberband too, not the skinny type. The tang is huge though. I havent wanted to pull it out of him and cause damage to his intestine. I looked in the tank all the time for the excreted band but could never find it(because he would just eat it again) anyway I finally got the band out of the tank today lol. This guy is like the goat of the sea. I have watched him eat whole silversides before.:eek1: Sailfin tangs are wierd, now I clamp my macro under the cleaning magnet lol.

He is 9" I just measured. He was about 7-8" when I got him. I am currently without a camera but I will getting an iphone next week so I will be able to use that till I get a decent camera. Are you getting out of the hobby or upgrading Ed? Your tank is super inspiring to me and your pics dont do it justice. Its the coolest fowlr I have seen in person for sure. Your fish are monsters! Also I got that auto feeder you recommended a while back and I love it.

That auto feeder is great, one of the best things I've ever bought. I lost all my large fish in a power outage while I was out of town... The only large fish that survived is a 2" cortez angel that was in qt. I'm selling all of my large reef gear and will go smaller for a while. If no one buys my tank I'll probably restock. I think I'm going to try some triggers and/or a large puffer.

Oh man thats terrible! You had some prize fish! Triggers and puffers are great, very personable. You should give them a go. If you do sell the tank and want to get rid of that monster skimmer give me a call.

I'm saving the skimmer for my next upgrade :)
What does your stock list look like? I've heard you've collected some nice fish yourself.

I have a large golden arothron puffer, medium dogface puffer, 2 large dwarf angels, bird wrasse, purple, yellow and sailfin tangs, medium miniatus grouper, full grown spotted grouper, and a foxface. Im moving my fish from my 300 to a 450 this week, and plan on adding more livestock. I dropped off my new fish list the other day at swsw. I plan on moving the lions to the 100g fuge section of my sump(200g sump) and adding a large blueface angel, 2 more yellow tangs, sohal tang, large hippo, female bird wrasse, 5 stripe wrasse, goldbar wrasse, and a blue throat trigger. There may have been something else on the list too.

Sweet, how do you like the golden puffer?
What do you give them to help them file down their teeth?
Do they eat pellets, and how easy was it to get them to eat pellets?

Watch out for the sohal...

Its my favorite fish for sure. Both of my puffers chew on the live rock so I guess I lucked out. I do feed live clams about once a month though. They wont eat any pellets. I use the autofeeder for the grazers and feed the predators every night with frozen food. I hand feed the puffers to make sure they get enough to eat.(when they are hungry they blow jets of water into the sand looking for clams) Triggers are the best though, I just havent had good luck with them(2 jumpers in a row)

I hope the sohal doesnt go nuts but if he does I have a system for easy fish removal. I may go with a big Naso instead, that wouldnt be quite as risky
