Tang Gills pushed out always open

I had the kole tang for 12wks now and has been in hypo 1.008 11pt for 8wks last week his gills started to push out and now there always open. The fish is acting the same as usually swimming and eating fine. Any thoughts of what is going on?
 
I would start bringing that salinity up to 1.021 via evaporation. There's some report that prolonged very low hypo can affect organ function.
 
Yes i know only problem is i added a few fish 2wks ago that looked to have ick so i think i started it over but all fish now look to be ick free just tons of other issues...

Thinking about bringing it up and start cp just not sure

i do know there is talk about hypo done for a long time can cause issues and on other hand theres talk of doing it for life with no issues.

try to never do that, once something is in qt nothing should go into it till its been broken down and cleaned....that's why i have 2 qt tanks....and would have more if the wife let me.

the new fish could have brought something with them to
