Tang keeps twitching!

Hi Guys.

I have a gold rim tang, who was quarantined for 4 weeks using Hypo Salinity and Waterlife Sterazin.

I placed him in my reef display tank 3 weeks ago, which was empty - only has coral, inverts etc, and now he seems to twitch occasionally.

I can't see any kind of parasite at all on him, he eats well, swims well and looks great - but he does twitch which makes me believe that he has some kind of parasite?

I recently read about electrical charges that can some from some internal equipment - all I have in my tank is a Tunze 6100 & 6080 stream. The skimmer etc is all in the sump.

Any ideas?

Could be a parasite such as fluke (more common on angels) or velvet, which are resistant to Hypo and need to be treated with Prazi-Pro and Cupramine respectively. It could also be the beginning of HLLE which results from an improper diet or poor water quality. I would try to get him back into a QT so you can observe and medicate as necessary. Good luck.

imo as i always tell people that qt fish is forget hypo and all that othe crap use copper based meds it dosnt hurt to be safe sometimes hypo dosnt work and sometimes it does why risk it if the fish is already in qt... if i were you i would just let him be if he is in the display on his own its even beter just feed vitamins and a few drops of garlic for a few weeks and he should be okay sometimes its just beter to let the fish be and they will generaly come back around make sure water params are good and do not add anything new for a few weeks try to keep stress to a min

Very likely to be Flukes, drop him into a QT with Prazi-Pro.
If you see a very fine powder on him, then it could be velvet. If you suspect this, then dip him in freshwater for 3-5min to see if the "powder" falls off. If it does, then you'll need to start copper treatment immediately. Velvet kills much faster than Ich.
