Tang scalpels

I haven't found a solid answer to this.

When I received my powder brown tang I noticed that both scalpels were missing. The area around were they should be looked a bit messed up also. I assumed it happened from a net, though I'm not sure. I have read that some places trim Naso's just to blunt them to save the bag. Though a powder brown is not quiet as much of an issue. I can't imagine they were cut off????

Fact is they're gone now, which begs the question...

Will they grow back?

Do you have a picture? Young powder browns, blues etc often don't look like they have scapels and these species are able to retract them in a skin flap. The area around the scapel also shows different colouring to the rest of the body.

I can't tell you for sure, but the tangs that I've had, that lost them, did not regrow them in their remaining years

Let's if this works

I hope these tell something?

I asked multiple times but, no matter how much I tried asking her to sit still. She refused.

Edit;
My hand (ring) makes it look like the fish has a white spot on it at first glance.
