Tang Stabilizer Broke

I have a Twin Spot Tang with one side stabilizer that looks like this. The other side looks normal. It looks like it broke like that in the last hour. Is this bad, should I do anything?

The picture looks normal... If you mean that the scalpel thingy they have broke off don't worry about it it'll grow back in time...

If you are talking about the white spot, that is not a stabalizer it is their defense mechanism. They should be retracted at all times, if not, they are upset at something.

"The surgeon fish have bones near tails that are as sharp as a surgeon’s knife." Thus the name, surgeon fish, which is what tangs are.

Generally they are retracted inside the skin.

If that's the case, then it looks like tried to get somebody, but whatever happened it got bent and now he can't put it back in.

I had a sailfin tang rip his acanthus in a fight with a passer angel and it stuck out at a straight angle after that. It never did heal and he was never able to fold it in again but it didn't seem to bother him.

I agree, it doesn't seem to bother the little guy, but it makes me sad.
