Tang Suggestions Please

I'm slowly stocking my 330g, and am continually toying with the ultimate stock list for it... At this point, I'm thinking four tangs total. I've currently got an orange shoulder tang in QT, and plan to add a fowleri and a powder blue... What to get for the fourth and final tang? I like the Naso tangs, but I think they're a bit too large for this tank, especially since I'll be having several large angels in there as well.

Just wanted to get some ideas for what you folks would recommend. I love the look of the achilles tangs, but I know they are very difficult to keep. Really like the Acanthurus tennenti as well, but realize it's pretty similar to the orange shoulder. Not sure if that would be an issue or not in 330g... Suggestions?

I would so do a male blond naso with long steamers. But it's my favorite tang and the one fish I would love to have and would skip out on the other choices for it. How about a tennenti? I've always like those too. Or a pyroferus. I have one of those and he's been a very mild fish so far just slowly grazing all day.

Edit: some how missed your edit but I think in your size tank it may be ok

Well if you think your tank isn't large enough for a Naso it isn't going to be large enough for your orange shoulder or Fowleri both of which grow large and quick. I second the Blonde Naso, males have streamers female do not

I don't think orange shoulders / lieutenants / fowleri get as big or need as much room as Nasos... I do love the blonde Naso though.

Fowleris get enormous.

I have a tennenti with a pyroferous in my 360 with no serious issues. I'm not sure if I could add another acanthurus though.

This is why I post here. Otherwise I'd make even more mistakes than I already do! :crazy1:

So rethinking the tang situation... Orange shoulder I already have... Going to eliminate fowleri (I thought they only got to 14"). I think any of the Naso will also require more room... So maybe I'll leave it at orange shoulder, powder blue and one more, which I'm guessing should not be an Acanthurus... Though tennenti may be worth trying?

The tennenti is a great fish, mine is the boss of my tank. As long as you have a backup plan it's probably worth a shot.

I always loved the desjardini tangs, and your size tank is definitely large enough for a blonde naso. It does depend what else is in there, but if the tank was empty, a naso would be fine in a 330. I love my whitetail bristletooth tang. Its not common to see a red tang and the white tail is quite stunning.

Love the whitetail bristletooth. May get one of those for my 90g... I think I'm going to go for orange shoulder, tennenti and PBT. As for the naso, there are going to be several large angels in there, and the rock work does take up a bit of room... But if the tennenti and orange shoulder end up clashing, maybe I'd pull one of those and try the blonde naso. We shall see... Thanks for all the input/suggestions, everyone!

Chevron or Black.

Our Chevron is a star in our tank and their prices have been going down.

Our large Black is just a sight to behold.

I really want to add a Gem and Zebra down the line... probably a Zebra first, but they seem to have stopped coming out of Mauritius...
