Tang that only eats Nori at night? odd?

So I've had my little Spotted Kole Tang (ctenochaetus truncatus) for 3 weeks and recently I've been trying to feed him nori attached to a piece of rubble rock with a rubber band. I've seen him nip at the nori during the day but not eat a significant portion but every morning its all gone. Fair to assume he eats it at night?

Not worried about the little guy eating as he eats the NLS pellets I feed and Rods food and frozen mysis and hair algae in my tank. I just think its odd that he doesn't see to eat the nori while my lights are on. Anyone have similar experiences?

Do you have a cleanup crew in your tank? Hermits/snails will gobble the stuff down.

Nori gets very very soft after being in the tank a while, even a slight current can end up ripping it off your rocks.

I've got a bunch of snails (cerith, astrea and nassarius) 1 red legged hermit that hitchhiked and a cleaner shrimp. Of these I have only seen the nassarius' take any interest in the nori. I don't think its getting soft and blowing off the rock I have it attached to but something other than the tang eating it is definitely a possibility.
