Tang wont gain weight

A few weeks ago for some reason my tang stopped eating. In that 48 hours he got a bit thin, but not TOO thin. He started to eat again mysis/brine/nori like he normally would, but hes not gaining weight. I can see his ribs and the line across his body. I feed 1 cube per day, plus some NLS pellets, plus I add nori two or three times a day about a 2x2 square piece. I cant really feed more without polluting my water, and he eats everything I offer but hes still skinny

Any ideas??

Worms maybe? Can you take it out and treat with Prazipro?

What kind of tang is it? I would maybe take him out and put him in a QT tank to beef him up a bit if he has competition in the DT. If he gains weight while in the QT tank then I would just keep him there until he is back to normal, if he doesn't then treat him with Prazipro because it probably means worms...

It wouldnt be easy to catch him so I am not sure about that.. Its a Yellow Tang. Any way to know for sure if its worms?

Also I wanted to add that I have had this tang for around 18months and didnt add any new fish to the tank in a long time.. Does that matter as far as internal parasites are concerned, and wouldnt the other fish get effected?

...A couple of ideas ( & I am NO expert,especially with Tangs ) but when I got my mimic the angel that I have was hogging all the food. So I went and bought a $2 turkey baster and a 2nd veggie clip. I now put 2 small pieces of nori in the clips and spot feed at 2 ends of the tank...I have noticed that at first they ate at separate ends of the tank. now they just eat whatever I throw in there without getting in each others way..

I have had several tangs and rabbits waste away over the years despite eating well and a few of them were able to recover. I had a doliatus rabbit that was skeletal a few months ago and was able to bring it back with a metro based medicated food. I tried prazi and a few other meds and found the Metronidazole based meds were the only anti parasitic that had an effect on what was obviously an internal parasite (probably worms).

Look at the directions. You can probably Google the medication and see what they recommend as far your DT goes. I am with Kahuna worms. I have had a Yellow Coris Wrasse waste away I figured it out to late for him . I treated the rest of my tank with medicated food and none of the rest seem ill.

There are several metro based meds out there. I originally used a gel based food mix from Blue Lagoon and with a prepared medicated food or metro as a food soak you can treat in the display tank.
