Tangs with tangs???

I just got a brand new used (lol) 70gal and so far I LOVE IT!!!
It's 36x18x24 and so far I have a fire shrimp, pink spot goby, and kole tang. (Introduced in that order) I still have definite plans for putting in a coral beauty angel and a wrasse of some sort (can't decide for now, maybe melanarus, any suggestions there??)
But for now I'm wondering... do I have the space to put a yellow tang too? I've heard that sometimes tangs do not get along at all and I'm hoping that's not the case because I'd really love the brightness of a yellow tang, but I'm not going to risk my kole for it or have my kole kill whatever yellow tang I may put in. There's plenty of rock work and at least four of what I consider hiding caves.

What should I do? More importantly, what can I do?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Kole tang are about the most laid back of the Tangs. It won't go after the yellow most likely. Although the yellow may be aggressive towards the Kole. Especially since it's such a small tank. Try and get a healthy little guy and you should be fine. .

Yellow tank in a 3ft tank is a no.

Most recommend atleast a 6footer as they can be aggressive and swim in one direction for a period of time

I think you might already have enough tangs. :(

Having a small tank isn't fun at times unfortunately. You have a limited amount of fish that are capable of living together. Sorry for the"bad" news.

If you find one small enough, you should be ok for about a year until it grows too large for your tank. and you can give it away or if you upgrade to a bigger tank. I have a 2 inch white cheek tang in my 50 cube now, and he's doing fine.

I'd go for a tomini (Flamefin) tang.. Slow grower.. Stays small as an adult at about 6" ... Grazes all day.. doesn't need lots of room to swim.. Congrats btw!

I don't care what the tang police say. I have a yellow and a kole tang in my 57g. They love eachother and swim into caves together. My kole is little, about 3" and yellow tang is about 4-5"

LFS. my bad
I assume it's better to have less time between introductions so that the kole will not have become to territorial and/or used to having it all to himself..?

Alternatively, you can rearrange the rock work so they both have to re-establish territories. That isn't always feasible but an option.

Went out and bought a small yellow today (along with a coral beauty) and the kole is standing his ground! Firmly, might I add; he has quite the size advantage on the little yellow.
We'll see where this goes (:

My Kole did that when I put in my Purple Tang. Both were approximately the same size. A good thing was, nothing came from it other then the normal "My tail can slap yours" syndrome and everything is peaceful today. :)
