Are there any differences in these two fish? Does one seem to bo better in the aquarium trade than the other?

Besides coloring? The are both similar in max size and temperament if that's what you're asking

I've had both, I've lost both to ich and I NEVER lose a fish to ich besides them

They are a little more difficult (more sensitive) than Yellow tang but should do well in reef or FOWLR. I like Powder Brown tang a lot.

I have read from other hobbyists that the Powder Brown may be a little more hardier than the Whitecheek and may adapt better too aquarium life. Also read they are both ich magnets.

I've had hippos beat ich.
Like I said only fish I ever lost to ich were power brown, powder blue and white cheek

Look at some of Mimic Tangs.

proper quarantine and these guys should have no ich and they are not that hard to take care of.

What tank size would you recomend?

I'd say a 6 foot+ tank for starters.. Make sure you are familiar with quarantine procedures and marine diseases.
