Tank Crashing HELP!

Well, i made 3 changes at the same time. Change sump, add Bio, change lights. The sump is a DIY without Refugium. It's a very simple design. Just room for a skimmer and a return section.

I added the Bio-pellet reactor when i changed the sump. First, i have it running a full 1000 ML. Then, i noticed the Corals are starting to bleach, so i cut back on the bio-pellet and only ran 200 ML. The problem persist, so i remove the reactor all together. At the same time, i added 3 screen nets to reduce the light penetration, yet the bleaching continues. The bleaching started from the center and spread outward. However, with all that. The bleaching continues. I just don't know what's going on.

I'll have to measure Phos and Nit later.

yes... one thing at a time ... then we go from there... i'm thinking something along the lines of the silicone you used... could have cause a spike... or something like that... thats why i'm having you check the basics first... remember we can't panic...

My phosphate is 0, but my Nitrate is 20-40. What should i do? Should i add the bio-pellet back?

Here are my Parameters:

Phos: 0
Nitrate: 20-40
Cal: 460
Alk: 8-9
Salinity: 1.25
Temp: 80*F

nitrates are high.. so i don't think putting the biopellets back on is gonna affect it one way or the other... so i would say yes... I would run some carbon ... stop water changes for like a week...

I did have regular saltwater in it for about a week when testing to see if there were any leaks. I only have it 1/2 filled. The sump was made from a 55g truvu fish tank.

that would be my first place... might have gotten a lil amonnia spike... which could cause you corals... do you have a reactor you can put some carbon in?

ya, i have two little fish. i'll put some carbon in it.

I'll do a couple of water change in the next couple of days to reduce the amount of nitrate that's in the tank. Water change is good to decrease nitrate. man, i can't believe i haven't been monitoring the nitrate.

I usually don't cause once its done cycling it nothing you really have to worry bout unless you have a fish die or something... what i would have done is filled the new sump up all the way to the top w/ just good ole tap water... soaked if for a few hours...drained it ... sprayed it out w/ a hose... and repreated this process 3 times...

Before, i had a refugium in my old sump. The refugium helped lower the nitrates. However, when changing the sump, i removed the refugium and cheato. This is probably the cause of the Nitrate spike.

I don't think it was cause of that... you running a mack daddy skimmer... I'm not certain bout what you have for a bioload ... but like i said i'm more think along of the lines of mini cycling went on cause of the chemical from the silicone you used... I actually think the fuge puts the nitrate in personally...and po so I'm doing a bare bottom & getting rid of my fuge... make my skimmer do all the work...

The shrimp died, but the snails and hermit crabs are still alive. There are a couple of SPS and LPS corals still alive also.

There isn't any silicone in the truvu tank. The truvu tank is acrylic. I've had this tank up for about 2 years now.
