Tank getting too hot

Hello, I have recently been having problems with heat in my tank. The tank is in an air-conditioned room with a heater. The only new thing I added to the tank is a hood. I have two 48 inch orbit marine pro fixtures and they have actually been feeling hotter than usually latley. I don't know what the reason for the extra heat is but my tank has been swinging around between 79 and 83 when it should be at 77 so any advice would be appreciated.

Fan kit: look for aquarium fan kit from our sponsors and generally online. Meanwhile just blow an ordinary desk fan onto your tank water surface.
 
I had a similar issue in my biocube last fall, the room temp was relatively low, mid 70's but the A/C didn't come on as often during the day. So I leave the feed door open, and ran the ceiling fan.
Depending on the size of your tank you could look into a chiller, but if you have a smaller tank I'd either go to screen lid or get a chiller fan.

Hoods trap heat. If you vent it you may have some luck, which is what I'm planning on doing depending if I decide to put a hood on it or not.

My old tank had no hood, the pump provided most of the heat to raise the temp to 78 from room temp of around 75.

I think I'm gonna do some DIY and put a small PC fan in the opening to get some air movement inside of the hood. I'll hook it up to my controller so that it only runs when the hood starts to heat up.

Fans blowing into your hood can help a lot.. but on the top of the hood cut or drill vent holes right above the Hottest point on the lights.. the hot air rises up ....

Air holes alone has often been enough for me...
 
Fans definitely won't hurt, but I agree with ericarenee as well. Well-placed vents can make a big difference, especially in an air-conditioned room!
