Tank in front of window??

Greetings all,
In prep for the 375gal project I have found the need to change my intended location for the 125gal FOLR tank.

I will have to put the 125 FOLR tank in front of a South West facing window that gets plenty of sun. I am wondering the best way to protect from incoming heat and light. I hate to start getting algae blooms and need to run a chiller...
the tank currently runs @ 78' - 79' no chiller , LED's

Ideas?

You can Tin foil that window but be ready for the DEA to visit,
OR just move your fish to the 375, what are you doing with two big tanks besides hemorrhaging money to the electric company?
 
My reef is right beside a window, while I do get lots of film algae and my glass, my rocks and sand are spotless. I have found if you keep nutrient levels low enough, a tank by a window should be fine.
 
You can use a piece of 1" thick Styrofoam to cover the back of the tank, covering the Styrofoam with aluminum foil would also help.

I have salt water pumping through my veins...
I live on the water, I have lived IN the water (Certified Aquanaut)
Tanks are on LED ... the 125 draws less than 4 amps with all lights and pumps so the power load is minimal and at $.010 per KWhr..... these tanks are thrifty on the power..

PS... I used to be in the Coast Guard and I work on the DEA, BPS & THP boats.. so I know when they are coming! :-)

I am still trying to fully understand "Low Nutrient" tank.

Go to walmart in the Automotive section and buy the 20% window tint, it cost roughly $11, get a spray bottle or you can buy the tinting kit for another $11. Just tint the windows that will cause sun light to come through. Its very easy to do and since its not a car it really doesnt need to be 100% perfect. I did this to my windows and it will not block sight through it but will block out heat and 99% of UV rays.
 
My house is mostly windows. On top of the walls being mainly windows we also have sky lights. I have not had algae problems because of it. I can't speak on the heat issue, but if you keep nutrients down the light is not a problem.
 
Reflective insulation would work too. The kind that looks like bubble wrap and used to wrap hot water heaters. It might be easier to work with than Styrofoam. Also a quality window film designed to minimize heat transfer will help. If you have blinds and you don't want to close them, tilt the fronts up, that will reduce the amount of light entering. Obviously, if you tilt the front down, light can enter. Two inch blinds work better with this.
 
I think you're going to be dealing w/a big algae problem. I know my LFS set up a 325 g in front of an east facing window and the staff hated the tank because it was so much work to clean the algae off the glass.

I am trying to protect from that the best I can!
