Tank is a Year Old Now!

Thank you, patekphillipe.

These were my 2nd coral purchase. I wanted them to grow up the overflow. If you have these taking over, I have the perfect spot to make them not do it. In the corner of my tank by the overflow! :lmao: I just moved them this past week to where the feather duster was before and they seem a lot happier. Dunno what I'm going to do, though, since that's not by the overflow! *sigh*

Mushrooms. All but 2 of the red ones have bailed from the original rock and are now in various locations in the tank.

Blue mushrooms that we got for free. After some attached in the original location, I moved the little rock over to the other side of the tank, as you can see above with the escapees.

Thanks, Pete! Yeah, you didn't come on the rest of the tank tour, so you missed it (well, I guess you saw the vid) LOL. Actually, the leathers you'll be seeing are much more impressive now than they were even just a few months ago! Still, nothing compared to your tank!

Thank you, iwish!

The leathers are where we've had the most impressive growth. My first was a cabbage leather, which I'd always wanted.

1/1/12. This sucker is huge. I imagine a year from now, it will have 1/4 of the tank on that side at the rate it's going.

This Devil's Hand leather is making a comeback lately. It got even smaller than it originally was & fell into a very small hole for months. It's now coming out again.

Here's some palys I forgot LOL. If I move them up, they turn brown, if I leave them shaded they stay purple but won't grow.

your getting some great pictures, what camera are you using? and are you using a flash? those stills of the fish are perfect

Great tank Sushi! It is cool that you named all your fish, really gotta love AH lol. Funny thing about the crab you named Big Red, that is what my middle school wieght room "coach" called me because of my hair and my example setting work out routine lol. Funny thing is that your tank is a year old, my tank was just born. Started the cycle today :D

Pete, I'm using our 6 year old 30D with the flash (usually pointed away a bit), some with a tripod, some handheld. This newer lens is awesome, our last one was always blurry.

This monti was give to us, and I figured it'd be dead within a month. Sucker must be hardy LOL. I noticed a couple days ago that it's actually GROWING! Crazy.

This trumpet coral did well for a while, then kept getting knocked into the sand. Then my boyfriend kept moving it around & broke all the vermetids off of it. It's now in the sump, where I still feed it hoping for its recovery.

And here's the xenia we got from Pete in December 2010. These were actually the very first corals in the tank. Boy, these poor things. They shrank up, lost their fingers, shrank some more, grew back a little, grew more, split a bunch, and now they're growing up the overflow LOL. They were so pathetic for so long, I didn't dare take any pics back then!

I forgot a few of the inhabitants. 2 tiger sand conchs in the DT and a tiger tail cucumber in the fuge.

This pic absolutely cracks me up!

We call them the vacuum cleaners because they look like canister vacs. I supplement these 2 every couple of days with algae, since we basically have none in the tank.

The cuke in the fuge. We see it every other week or so. Today it came out (last pic) for picture day LOL.

Neat how your refugium is coming along. I'd like to populate mine with different kinds of macroalgae, too. Do you purchase from the LFS, or online?

We bought some chaeto from an LFS (which is where the feather caulerpa came from too, we just pulled as much out as we could 2 days ago & half of the chaeto). We got some other chaeto in the mail from someone, and some more from a local reefer. The dragon's breath was from another reefer via mail.
