Nice Tank...

Congrats!!

BTW, if you get some frags, let me know, dont think it would be a problem for me to make a trip. Im in Fredericksburg...

Good luck with the move

Auch.

John, congrat's man. Great pic, you should get george to take a new pic so everyone can see the auwsome new growth (Birds nest looks on fire). The green table I got from you has encrusted the rock I mounted it on ALREADY  .
OJ

P.S. Good luck with the move. :p

Stunning tank!

You appear to have plumbed a bulkhead through that 55 gal AGA tank (sump). How is that? Aren't they made of tempered glass? Did you have a specialist drill it for you?

CVYE,

It is a 55g perfector tank that I bought around here. The LFS drilled it for me. I didn't know it was tempered or not but they did it.

HTH,
John

john,

that is an awesome tank. i am on my second amaetur tank and got into some of my own problems. like you said, i started this chat line and have found it very informative. i do have a question though. since i am a new comer to this site, i am not real sure of some of the lingo. can you clarify please, or anyone else for that fact.

what is the following:

sps

lps

softies: i am guessing, soft corals!?!?!

thanks and good luck on the move........whew!!!!

what is the co2 for anyways.....thanks...........

what is the drip rate of your calcium Reactor ? how many drips per minute, and how many bubbles per min on you counter ?

Lol Gary I know what you mean :p

John congrats!! Very much deserving of tank of the month. Nice clean site too. Thanks for making my tank look horrible in comparison. :)

emixa, sps stands for small polyped stony, lps stands for large polyped stony, "softies" does refer to soft corals, and the CO2 tank is for his calcium reactor. To learn more about calcium reactors, read this great article:

Hi John;

Fantastic reef and a story that is a little close to home - my last reef tank was built into a wall in my basement and I was able to watch it while I played pool on my 1" slate brunswick :)

Quick question - I would love to see the tank and system in perspective. Do you have any photos of the tank standing in the middle of the room (even with someone standing by it?) Also, any photos of the filter compartments, etc.

I often get great ideas just from seeing other peoples' setups :)

BonsaiNut,

Thanks for the compliments but I don't have any pics with me next to it. It would take one with me now so I can show it to you but the tank has crashed two weeks ago during the move.:( :( :(

I am using my prop tanks to hold some of my rare/nice pieces right now. I hope to have a new tank up running soon, may be this summer.

Later,
John
