Your tank looks splendid.
I especially enjoyed how much thought you put into the design of the stand- plumbing and wiring everything the way you did was genius! Also, having the natural lighting and plants surrounding your tank completes the setup.
I think I speak for us all in saying that your reef and dedication are inspirational.

I can still remember some of my courses when I was at school, and the prof lecturing on the diversity of the rain forests and reefs. What makes these habitats so remarkable (besides their beauty) is the diversity of life that is found there. I guess those lectures stuck with me! I think it's also the challenge keeping a diverse reef provides that attracts me.
wrang, hellow to Sweden! There are a number of different Tunze models in use. I have some of the older ones (6060 I think) and they are about 5 or 6 years old. I also have 2 of the new models, 6065 attached to the wavy seas.

Paul, this tank is just incredible. One of the best I've seen. I just looks so natural and that's about the highest compliment I know how to give someone on their aquarium. You have certainly achieved what you set out to.
One more question about your Wavyseas and Tunzes. I don't want to beat a dead horse. I have seen this mentioned on other threads but have never seen a picture of how it actually looks when the mod is complete. I know this would help solve some flow issues in my current setup nut would love to see a pic. Do you have any pics that may show how the PVC cap and screw attach and how far they hang down from the WavySea?

soccerbag is spot on! this room looks like a place to just unwind in after a bad day (or good).
If I could I think I would come over and just become lost in the rhythmic movement in this outstanding tank.
P.S. did you notice any change in your tank after adding the vodka? like in the coloration of coral, or how fast it was growing, or even how long the polyps are out and when? (I have a Blue Ridge coral that will have it's polyps out if i add vitamins to the water it is so cool.) if so could you tell all of us what.

I noticed that there were more pods in my sump and the sand turned whiter when I began the vodka. I didn't see any change with the sps corals, except maybe a little better polyp extension. The little bit of chaeto I had in the sump also disapeared.
I will work on getting a pic. I don't know what use it may be because it's pretty well covered with coraline and algae to show much detail.
I made it myself. It's just a 3/4" pvc endcap with a hole drilled in it . The screw that comes with the Tunze 6065 fits perfectly through the hole and is attached with the provided bolt. It couldn't be easier. I keep the wavyseas at the highest speed, which is 6 on the controller.

amazing tank. i hope to achieve TOTM some day, this is a GREAT example of what i have to look up to and get me headed in the right direction. love the room that the tank is in, and the stand is one of a kind.

SPECTACULAR!! Without a doubt, the nicest TOTM I've seen yet. So well thought out, not only the overall engineering of the tank but the aesthetics around the tank. I love that anemone with all the clowns. Just an awesome biosphere., wow

You're absolutely right, the poplar wood facing on the stand was distracting. The tile facing looks much better. The stand looks so natural and it blends in beautifully with the floor.
You have excellent taste in room design. I like the rug with the leaf motif. It's blends in beautifully with the flooring. The wicker sofa and chair with the green leaf-motif fabric blends in beautifully with the flooring and the wall color looks great! The Tiffany-style lamp is a perfect match for that spot. In fact, everything is a perfect match.
The white fan blends in with the white framing of the sun room and having it controlled by the aquarium's water temperature instead of the room's ambient temperature is a stroke of genius.
Does your sunroom face east, southeast, or what? Do you have any problems in the summer with it overheating? Is that room on a separate A/C-heating control from the rest of the house? It looks like it was probably an addition to the back of your house, right?

The room faces south-southwest, and yes it's an addition to the back. It has it's own AC unit seperate from the rest of the house. I keep the temp set at 78F in the summertime and the AC sometimes has to work continuously to keep it there during miday. As soon as the sun sets though, no problem. I don't have any problem keeping the tank cool. The temp has never reached 81. I would love to lower my electric bill in the summer though, so I have looked into solar panels and shades for the room. So far no luck with anything plausible.
I have had the basket star for almost a year. The S.gigantea for about seven and the T. derasa approximately five.

Superb. It is obvious that alot of planning and forethought went into the implementation of your system. You have done a tremendous job and very well deserved TOTM. I have seen over a hundred, top notch, quality systems over the years and yours truly is one of the top 10 there is .
What is the annual cost to run the DailySeas....meaning the replacement of filters, etc.?

Have you had cyano or algae issues? If so, how did you deal with them.
Also, have you had any browning events with your SPS. If so, what did you do? If not, why do you think your system avoids such events?
