what do you look at when making the water up I have problem PH8.0

I don't consider 8.0 PH to be a problem. I only make sure the SPG and temperature are correct before I use the water.

kevin, do you have issues with low alkalinity now that you are using Oceanic?

With my coral load I always have issues with low alkalinity I do not buffer the water before I use it. I only do a little over 20% (150 gal) water change so it has minimal effect. If required I dose the following morning.

What is a good setting that you use to set at SG for the change water and is it the same for the tank?

What is SPG?

Specific gravity. I add my salt to the water the night before I use it. I adjust it to what the tank is (1.024-1.025)

Thank you for your kind words It has been an adventure and learning experience. It seems with all the new products available today we could be testing and tinkering with out tanks for years to come. How great a hobby is this ? From aquascaping, fish, and equipment selection it really gives us a chance to let our creative sides loose.
