Tank Partially Exterminated :(

My condo had to be bombed on a very short notice for mites and apparently cockroaches although I had not seen any but I keep my unit clean but the mites were certainly a problem. I wrapped the tank in painters tarp plastic, then cellophane wrapped that and taped over any areas that seemed still iffy then put blankets over all that and shut it down leaving only power heads inside on for circulation. I didn't lose everything but most of my sps bleached and lps died and all but one of my gobies died. I don't know how anything could've gotten in there if anything I think it may have been the heat that did it. Very upset, I was almost just going to say screw it I'm out after the huge losses from the storm I was finally back where I wanted everything but I know I'd eventually come crawling back. With my crazy schedule I've barely had time to work on/enjoy the tank as it is. I'm thinking I might just keep it as mostly a softy tank with a few lps at this point. This happened a few weeks ago just to prove the fact I haven't had much time to even check the forums, I've done a few water changes and my parameters are back to stable now it's just really upsetting to look at it at this point. If any one has any of the following they're willing to frag or sell on the cheap that would be much appreciated finances aren't too great at the moment: yellow fiji leather, green tree leather, jasmine polyps, clove polyps, low end zoos or palys, rics or other mushrooms, xenia, frogspawn/hammer/torch, bubble coral, alveopora. I'm located in Meriden but generally willing to travel to where ever. Thanks - Matt

Sorry to hear about your tank. Sounds like it may have been heat and possible low Oxygen levels as well. It's like a double edged sword. All wrapped up like that probably protected it from the bombing, but then there probably wasn't enough for gas exchange and release of any heat build up. PM'd you.

Sorry to hear. The same thing happened to me last night , if any of my corals make it your welcome to take a few.

Collinrb and I will also be at the fragging workshop and will have a few mushrooms to get rid of for pretty cheap.

I will see if I can put a few Frags together. I have a LOT of RDE's AOG's Pink and GOlds and Mohawks. TOO many in fact, LOL

We don't have to charge you for a couple mushrooms if you like the kinds we're fragging. Hate to see this happen to fellow members.

That sucks! If you are ever in my neck of the woods I can hook you up with a few superman mushrooms and some palys like the ones in my avatar. Let me know if you are ever heading my way.

Thanks to everyone for being so generous, the dedication of this club's members definitely keeps the hobby going strong. I'll be PM'ing a bunch of you soon and I'll have to see if I can make it to this fragging workshop.

Sorry to hear about your losses, Matt. I've got some freebie replacements for the stuff you lost. Are you going to the meeting next weekend? I can replace the jasmine polyps, xenia, some shrooms, and if you want to replace any of the SPS that you lost, just list what you're looking for and I'll see what I can do.

Sorry to hear, nobody wants anything like that to happen. I have many frags of zoas, palys, some acans, pink & green birds nests and more. will sell for cheap and also I am sure I have some freebes for you. PM me and I can send some pics if you want.

Matt, Sorry to hear. I'll clip another frag of the green tree leather tonight and rubber band it to some rubble for ya (3rd times a charm I hope.)

I have several frags of frogspawn you're more than welcome to as well as a torch I can hack off.

Thank you so much guys works been crazy so sorry if I'm slow to reply to anyone... I really appreciate everyone's generosity and if I haven't PM'ed you yet I will soon!

I'm pretty sure I PM'ed everyone already but just in case I wanted to say it publicly thanks to everyone who was generous enough to help me out in a time of despair it's you guys who keep those teetering on the edge of giving up in the hobby. I try to help out as much as I can when a fellow reefer needs a hand and hopefully I can repay all those who hooked me up in the future as small or big as it may have been and as always it's great seeing everyone at the meeting.
