tank pics...its been awhile...

Hey Tim,

Nice job Bud! Striking as always!! Dude, the Amgen Tour has a stage ending in Sacramento (Santa Rosa to Sac.). I can hardly wait! We should work that thing.

mothra, yep even after the 60hr blackout, 2 days later a light dusting started to appear and i got that sickening feeling in my stomach again! :mad2: felt defeated! so i slowed the reactor down to a trickle and the stuff started to disappear. now, i can't honestly say if it was just that OR the combo of all the other things i did.

also, i've been using a product called AZ-NO3 for about 2 weeks and it has lowered my nitrates down to about 1! some of the corals are showing colors i've never seen before :D

you know something is working right when your spouse walks by and says, "its looking good in there!"

Wee-Reef Master, you know it! i'm betting all the local cycling and triathlon clubs are gonna be volunteering! i'm with SacTri Club and hope we are part of it :)

maddness, branching LR was a very nice addition!

snapped a few top downs tonight with only the middle halide and actinics on (sorry they are kinda dark)...enjoy :)

Did you ever give John some of that branching hammer? The small colony I bought from him when he first opened looks exacly the same and he said he got it from one of his customers.

Oh wow... Man when those corals grow in and you get some coraline in there.... We'll see you on the front page!!! Very cool tank you got there. Too many people (myself included) go for the rock wall look. I especially like how its viewable from all sides (looks like) Is it dividing two rooms?

Darn nice!

About the Rowaphos... So you had some dino/cyano in your tank and when you slowed the reactor it seemed to start to disapear? Reason I ask is I've got a little in mine as well.

Chris

cwegescheide, its 3-sided viewing but isn't really a room divider. just a nice view from where we spend most of our time :D

yep-slowing the rowa to a trickle seems to be helping a lot. if the algae persists after a week, you might wanna test and lower your nitrates if need be.

these were taken with only the actinics on.

OH man thats nice!!! I gotta get me one of those!!! Ya know... I don't really like people with nicer reefs than mine. ;)

All kidding aside I can't wait to see what that baby looks like when your frags grow in.. Thats really going to be something to see.

Good luck!

Chris

Tim,

As usual, beautiful tank (goddamn#@$&*showoff)

Are you thinking of adding some schooling fish to go with the increase in water column space. 5-7 convict tangs would be nice.

Karl

oh no! it must be a curse...whenever i take and post pics of the tank, something goes wrong! :(

i think i might have gone excessive with the azno3 in lowering the nitrates. a few acros and montis have started to slowly rtn. some at their base and some at different spots. its the weirdest thing i've ever seen. the entire coral looks vibrant and healthy with regular polyp extension, but the tissue slowly just sloughs off in a matter of days.

i'm holding off on adding anymore and will do a couple 20% water changes. so frustrating :(

Keepin' my fingers crossed for you, buddy. It's been a helluva summer. I hope yours won't be added to the long list of gorgeous tanks gone bad:(

NOOOO!!! Well anytime you wanna bust off a frag and save some like that tenius before i'll be glad to hold some :) Goodluck Tim. I know you'll beat whatever it is thats in your tank.

Jason

thanks guys. i thought maybe it was an amm/nitrite spike from the additional LR, but then my shrimp woulda already kicked it.

i'm actually scared about getting home and seeing what awaits me today :mad2:

That sucks Tim...I know the feeling of bewilderment...when my acros were STNing from the base, and I mean really slow...the rest of the coral looked great. The bali stag I've got I had fraged the week before the base started to STN, and while the base was going the two tips grew new tissue, and started to branch...It was like base was saying there was something wrong, and the tips had to opposite opinion. I really hope that things take a turn for the better for your tank.

Edit: Tim if you need an extra pair of hads for any emergency work give me a call...I'll PM you my #.

I sold John the BIG frogspawn and hammer that he put in his home system. I don't know if he still has it at home, but he did last year. I think he said he was going to frag part of it. It was over 45+ heads when I got rid of it. :eek1:
I'm know Tim has sold John a bunch of coral also.
