Tank size? Fuge size?

30g tank, ~ 9g fuge.

I've read from a couple of the experts in the DIY forum that fuge size should be roughly 10% of your total system volume.

If flow through the fuge is a concern, can you put the fuge on the end, return in the middle, then T your return line to feed the fuge?

I have about 500 gallons total. Included in that is a 75 gallon tank that will eventually be turned into a refugium fed from the main system pump.

A small fuge is helpful. I don't know where the 10% minimum comes from. What I've read(Calfo et alia suggests ) a footprint equivalent to 50% of the aquarium when it's used primarily for biofiltration; but not many really do that .
Those who focus on pods for food generally have better success culturing them separately and adding them.
My chaeto does well with about 400gph flow from drains into a 30 g bin and 20 g tank.

well after talking to my guy at the LFS just took it out of my overflow and placed it back in the main area said it wasnt good to press it in anywhere needed room :( less room for the mantis oh well Maybe bring a bunch to the frag swap??
